In 1861, Lincoln made a short speech at Independence Hall in Philadelphia, while on his way to Washington. In it, Lincoln reminded Americans that our Declaration of Independence was about far more than the mere separation of the colonies from the mother land.
Lincoln said there was something in that Declaration giving liberty, not alone to the people of this country, but hope to the world for all future time. It was that which gave promise that in due time the weights should be lifted from the shoulders of all men, and that all should have an equal chance. This is the sentiment embodied in that Declaration of Independence.
Every summer, we distribute these postcards throughout the beach resorts of New Jersey. They remind us that on July 4, 1776, our nation was “conceived in liberty” when Americans declared these truths to be “self-evident”.

America was never perfect. However, when we understood and respected our Constitution and founding principles of liberty, America brought more wealth, opportunity, and justice to more people than any other nation in history. That is the meaning of Liberty and Prosperity, New Jerseys motto since 1776.

We are disappointed that so far, we did not get more support for this project. Not one establishment or mainstream Republican leader made any public statement defending Kate Smith. Too many other conservatives told us, “Let’s not waste our time. Nobody cares about Kate Smith anymore”. It should not surprise us that because so few Americans publicly and forcefully defended Kate Smith in April and May, the left is now attacking George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, and even Betsy Ross!
Chief Justice John Roberts. Last Thursday, this George Bush Republican ignored Constitution and hundreds of years of established law to rule that illegal aliens must be counted the same as U.S citizens in next year’s census.
Chief Justice Robert B. Taney. In 1857, this Democratic Party hack ignored Constitution, Bible, and hundreds of years of established law to rule in Dred Scott Case that Declaration of Independence did not apply to blacks, and blacks in America could never be citizens.
Last week, the U.S. Supreme Court voted 5-4 to destroy yet another key element of our Constitution and rule of law. It ruled that our President must count illegal aliens the same as U.S. citizens in next year’s census.
