Zohran Mamdani is why we formed libertyandprosperity.com 22 years ago! We saw back then where teaching our kids to hate everything about America was taking us. We saw where NOT teaching our kids about anything good about America was taking us.
We don’t teach our kids how liberty and freedom create wealth. We only teach them this leftist propaganda created by the communists of China and Russia during the Cold War. If we teach them nothing but the evil of our country and the greatness of failed socialist countries for sixty years, this is what our kids and grandkids and nieces and nephews are going to believe.
Don’t call our kids stupid for supporting people like Zohran Mamdani. We Boomers were stupid for sending our kids to schools that teach this garbage day after day for 180 days of school every year.
We had them watching these propaganda movies for entertainment since Little Big Man and Dustin Hoffman in 1970. We saturated them with movies telling our kids that America’s wealth came from murdering Native Americans, enslaving people, destroying the environment, and so on.
Remember Three Days of Condor with Robert Redford and Faye Dunaway? All the villains are white, heterosexual American men.
Everything in those movies is a lie. Those are all lies.
But if this is what our kids have been taught in school, in the movies, in the pop culture, in the media over and over and over again for sixty years, this is what they are going to believe.
Instead of complaining about Mamdani, we need to start teaching the truth to our kids. And by the way, those kids are already saying, even if those Boomers get together and beat Mamdani this time, those Boomers will all be dead soon, and then we’re going to run the country.
They are already saying that the only people stopping them from running the country right now are those crazy, racist, ignorant, selfish Boomers.
So we Boomers have to take responsibility before it’s too late.
Even at this late date, we can still do it. But we have to start talking to our kids and grandkids and nieces and nephews and all the other young people who need us for something right now.
And, I’m going to explain how Liberty and Prosperity can help. We help with the stuff we have posted on our website, the stuff we talk about at our Saturday breakfasts at Sal’s Coal Fired Pizza in Somers Point, Groveland Avenue and New Road in Somers Point every Saturday morning, 09:30 to 10:30, and on talk radio programs like this. This is how we begin to undo the damage. This is how were start getting control of what’s taught in our schools.
So instead of talking about what we’re against, let’s start emphasizing what we’re for. And that’s what we do at libertyandprosperity.com.
If anyone wants to learn more about us, email us at info@libertyandprosperity.com. Get on our free weekly email update list. And we talked about this whole Mamdani thing in our newsletter. So, if you’d like to get it or see our posts, we post we post this broadcast on our website. All those details are there.
But anyway, yesterday, July 4 reminds us that our nation was conceived in liberty on 07/04/1776. And, Abraham Lincoln, made it very clear in almost every speech he made that there was something exceptional about America. Dozens of countries have an Independence Day. Dozens of countries became independent from some colonial power at some point. But America was different, and Abraham Lincoln pointed this out.
On July 4, 1776, did more than just declare our independence from England. We also declared the ideas our country would be founded on.
And so we have this Declaration of Independence that says :
We are all created equal. We are all endowed by our Creator with certain unalienable rights. That amont these are , life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. And that to secure these rights, we institute governments exercising their just powers with the consent of the governed. And we have a postcard that anyone could pick up with those words of our Declaration of Independence on it.
And it says on the back of the postcard, “Do more than vote”.
America was never perfect. But when we understood and respected our Constitution and founding principles of liberty, America brought more wealth, opportunities and justice to more people than any other nation in history. And that is the meaning of liberty and prosperity, New Jersey’s motto since 1776.
So we have these postcards. And if you go to our office, where my law office used to be in Somers Point at, Shore Road in Maryland Avenue, there’s a waterproof plastic bin where we have these postcards. You could take these postcards and hand them out. I keep a couple in my pocket whenever I go to a restaurant or meet friends. I I feel like I’m Johnny Appleseed handing out these Declaration of Independence postcards.
And and I think that’s the first step toward reaching our kids and grandkids. Hand out the postcard and start a conversation at some point with your kids, your nieces, or nephews, or any random friends who may be woke. Who say what a racist, horrible country we live in. Use these postcards as an excuse to start conversations you need to be having.
And one of the awful things they teach in our schools starting in kindergarten, is that America is a democracy. No. America is not a democracy. It’s a constitutional republic designed to protect the equal rights of each individual. Our Declaration of Independence reminds us that we have government by consent. There’s a big difference between government by consent and democracy.
As Ben Franklin said, democracy is two wolves and one sheep taking a vote on what to have for dinner. Democracy doesn’t do much good for one sheep taking a vote with two wolves.
You can’t have, freedom where a majority could take away from you everything that you have. So so what is consent?
Well, I just want to give a, you know, consent is something we do every day in our lives. Let’s say that you, you’re living in a house, that’s too big for you. Your kids are grown. You’re living all by yourself in this big house, and you wanna sell your house. So you say, well, I think my house is worth $300,000 So, I want someone to give me $300,000 from my house.
Suppose you’re a young family and you want to have a house, and and you wanna have a place for your family, but you say I only have a $100,000 for a house. How are you how are you going to get a house for your family? How do you decide what the fair price of a house is?
Well, the guy is asking for $300,000. He won’t sell to me for a 100,000. He could look around, find other people who will consent to pay his $300,000. And if he doesn’t find someone to pay that price, he has to decide to either stay where he’s at or lower the price.
Meanwhile, you have the freedom to look elsewhere for a house. A guy who wants a house for $100,000, could go around and ask hundreds of people selling houses. And if he doesn’t like what he can get for $100,000, he has to pay more.
So everybody voluntarily pays what they want to pay or gets what they want to get. But you can’t use force, to to tell somebody, how much to sell for. And that’s the beauty of an economy and a country based on consent.
Now if this Mamdani and the socialists take over, and we’ve been teaching our kids how great socialism is, they’d say, well, I need a house for a $100,000. So I’m going To have the government pass a law that says that this old man doesn’t need a $300,000 house any more. I need the house. So I’m going To have a law that forces him to sell me his house for $100,000. That’s what socialism is. Socialism is based on force where people, think they could force people to give them what they want because they say they need it.
I’ve just taken an extreme case, but but we’re getting there. And unfortunately, we have a lot of Republicans look at it the same way. For example, taxes on your on your homes and your businesses in New Jersey are too high. Why are they too high? Well, because we’re spending too much money on, on making repairs, on building things. We have these union rules. We have environmental rules. We have diversity rules. All these things make us pay a fortune to make fortune to make even minor repairs, to to our streets. We can’t we can’t afford to build our streets, or repair them. So, we we will if if the tax are too high, then we wanna have the government give certain people tax relief. And all that does is it lets people who get the tax relief say, gee, I could vote to spend as much money as the government wants and somebody else is paying for it. That’s a form of socialism. The the idea that you can get what you want and make somebody else pay for it. No. That’s not government by consent. Consent is if you want something to be done by the government, you pay the taxes for it. But yet, you know, we’re even taking electric bills. We we have, 90% of the people pay more for electricity, so that, you know, five or 10% could get the the free electricity with the societal benefit fee. We have this fake affordable housing, where everybody who buys a house has to pay 40 or $50,000 more. So a handful of people could get quote, affordable housing units. So we’ve got to get back to government by consent of voluntary, you know, just like when you buy a cup of coffee at Wawa, you know, you buy a cup of coffee because you you have $2 in your pocket. You want the coffee more than you want the $2 Wawa wants the $2 more than they want their coffee. So they give you the coffee, you say thank you. And then they give you give them the $2 and they say thank you. Government by consent is a thank you, thank you moment on the things you do. And yet we’re training our kids to say that you have the right to force other people to give you what you want because you could get more votes than they got. And and we’ve gotta get away from that. You know, you you’ve said before that you have some ideas as to how to do that, but I I I don’t know. Is that realistic? I mean, especially me. I mean, talking to my grandson. You know, he’s a good kid, but, you know. What what what what it’s interesting. My daughter is up from Florida, and and she is, talking to, her all her her woke friends who stayed here in New York, And and and the conversation is is going on about Israel where where they’re they’re they’re saying, you know, how how could this happen? How how could people saying all these lies about Jews in Israel? You know, because in Israel, the story of Israel is very much like the story of America. When the Jews came to Israel, they bought land that Arabs did not want. And the reason that the Arabs didn’t wanna live there was there was malaria swamp. People were dying of malaria. There was desert. You know, the Bedouin camels had eaten every tree, every blade of grass. The soil was ruined. Nothing could grow there. So for thirty years, you had Jews pay top dollar for worthless land. They drained the malaria swamps. They killed the mosquitoes. They watered the desert. They planted trees. They planted crops. And after they did all that, then you had Arabs in in the neighborhood. They started moving in. Oh, this is a great place. We we want this land. You stole our land. So so Jews know that, and and my daughter is saying to them, well, we know how they’re lying about the left is doing with the, the radical Muslims to say all these lies about us, and we know it’s a lie. So my daughter’s telling her friends, well, think of the other things they’re lying to us about, How how they lied about the racism here and they lied about, you know, that that we’re poisoning the planet, you know. My daughter’s saying, gee whiz, if if if we’re poisoning the planet and the sea levels are rising and the climate is changing, then the cheapest land we could possibly buy in New Jersey must be beachfront property in Longport. You know, I bet you could buy it. I bet they’re giving it away there. And and, of course, they’re not. So so you just have to talk to your, your your friends at, or your your kids, you know, just have to take one moment of one lie, and and explain, you know, how how they lied to you about one thing and then move gently into another lie. But, but I think the best thing to do, the best beginning is to start with those libertyandprosperity.com postcards that explain our our declaration of independence, because everybody knows when people are wealthy and other people don’t have wealth, you know, it’s easy to say, well, they have too much. Let’s just have the government take their stuff. But if we talk about how this wealth got created in the first place, about all the, you know, the grandparents who came here with nothing. And then they worked in a factory, you know, for 5¢ an hour, but they learned the skill. And then after working in the factory for a for a couple years, they saved their money, and they would buy a shop and they buy the machine and they start doing the stuff in their, in a little workshop or they’d, they’d start selling meals, in Atlantic City out of their their living room and turn it into a restaurant and take in borders in the summer and make it into a hotel. All these things that that people did to create this wealth when America was a land of opportunity, when the taxes were just about non existent, that’s that’s the key to understanding things. But on the other side of the coin, we have to remember how we boomers have choked off the opportunity for young people. And and I know I go on and on about Eustace Media in in Ocean City trying to build a, you know, a simple 250 room hotel where there there was a failed amusement park. I mean, which which, use to attracts, more people, an amusement park or a or a hotel? Obviously, the amusement park. I mean, as anyone who has taken kids to Ocean City and parked the car seven blocks away, you know, when my kids were young, you know, I I know how crowded it was, but but yet, if if someone is wealthy as as Eustace Mead that can’t get a simple permit to simp build a simple hotel in the resort area of a resort town, think of what it’s like for a for a young person who wants to open up maybe a beauty salon or a young person who wants to, you know, open up a restaurant or a small business. And think of all the change we have McDonald’s, we have, you know, the the, you know, every, we have Starbucks coffee to sell coffee, McDonald’s to sell hamburgers. Why do we have that? A big reason is because it costs so much money to get permits just to open up a restaurant to sell hamburgers. Young think of how all the young people we knew starting out who got rich, in the fifties and sixties and and how we choked off that opportunity. So we we have to do two things. Before us, we boomers ride off into the sunset, I think we have a special obligation to our kids that, look, we brainwashed you for sixty years by sending you to these rogue schools. We choked off the opportunity by passing all these zoning laws and permit laws and license laws and insurance laws that make it impossible for young people to legally go into business. You know, that’s why we have so many illegal immigrants doing all this stuff under the table, by the way. If we’re gonna do it right, if we’re gonna enforce immigration laws, we’re gonna make everyone comply by by the law. We also have to make the laws realistic. They don’t have towns like Atlantic City and most towns where 98 of every house and business in Atlantic City is in violation of some law. Meaning if the business burns down, you wouldn’t be permitted to build the same thing up again because those are the kind of ridiculous laws we had. So so we really have to need a checkup from the neck up. But, but two hundred and fifty years of America, I I think we have to say, if we don’t want Ma’am Dani and that New York socialism and the radical leftist to be running this country, we’re gonna have to have a good hard look as to what we’ve done to this country, we the boomers, for the past sixty years. And instead of just going around and playing pinochle and pickleball all day, you know, take some effort to to join liberty and prosperity, support liberty and prosperity or groups like us, to learn some of this stuff and teach it in grips and drafts to your kids. So so that’s my mission, and, you got me started on this this ramp once again. Yeah.
