Seth Grossman 2024 Remarks on Need for Mass Deportations Are Even More Relevant Today.

Remarks Made by Seth Grossman to Faith & Freedom Coalition at Woodstown, New Jersey on February 13, 2024.

TRANSCRIPT OF KEY POINTS:

While many of my colleagues are playing pinochle and pickleball in Boynton Beach, Florida, I am trying trying to save Western civilization and America here in New Jersey. The first step is to stop mass legal and illegal immigration of people who do not share our values or our culture. Many have been taught since childhood to despise them–and us. Then we must systematically deport millions of people who were allowed to come to our country illegally and through fake “amnesty”. It will be ugly. There will be countless images in the media that portray us as cruel. However, if we fail to do this, our children and grandchildren will soon be oppressed and persecuted minorities–here in our own country.

This is a painful and difficult topic because we’re Americans. We are a nation of Bible-based Christians and Jews who believe in compassion. We don’t want to hurt anybody, and we want to help everybody. We are a nation of compassion and kindness. That is our greatest virtue. However, that virtue has become a weakness that our enemies have used and are using right now to divide, weaken, and destroy us.

8:05

They are doing it through immigration, and it’s really not immigration . It’s really an invasion, but we have been very slow to recognize it.

I am now old and we all are. It’s been about 15 years since I first met many of you at the Grange Hall in Elmer. But we have to remain active as long as we can.

Otherwise, our children and grandchildren will be as persecuted and miserable here in America as the whites of South Africa, the French in Algeria, and the Jews living next to Gaza in Israel. They will also be minorities oppressed, attacked and persecuted in our own country.  That is the goal of our enemies. And it is happening now.

They call me a “right-wing extremist”  and a “white nationalist” or “Christian nationalist” for saying this. But I want to ignore labels and just talk about some basic facts about immigration that many Americans know nothing about.

9:04

Very few Americans know that our nation NEVER had the massive immigration, legal and illegal, that we have today.

We are told that America is a nation of immigrants. However, immigration to America was always very limited. At first technology limited immigration to America. It took a long time and it was very expensive for little leaky wooden sailing boats to get here from Europe, Africa and Asia. So even though our Founders did not make laws to limit immigration to America, they did not have to. Technology greatly limited immigration because the voyage to America was so dangerous and expensive.

All that changed after the Civil War, For the first time, big steamships could bring millions of immigrants to America for the first time. That was when many of our ancestors came to America. Jews from Eastern Europe. Italians from southern Europe and many Irish, Hungarians and Germans came to America in large numbers for the first time.

After a few years of this, many Americans realized that this was not sustainable. And so, between 1870 and 1920, we had a 50-year debate over putting limits on immigration.

10:07

Above Image:  Deadly riot in support of strikers at Haymarket Square in Chicago, IL, 1886.

During those 50 years of massive, unlimited immigration, America began to have the same problems that were te

aring Europe apart. We had poverty, sweatshops, strikes, riots and violence–here in America.  We had hatred and violence between races and ethnic groups. We started to see the same disintegration we have today. That is why in 1920, the overwhelming majority of Americans, Democrats and Republicans, agreed to limit immigration to 100,000 new foreigners per year. And it worked!

When we limited immigration, we immediately had a shortage of unskilled labor. When that happened, wages went up. Businesses were forced to invent new machines and invest money to install them in their factories to make their highly paid workers more productive.

During the 1920s, after we limited immigration, American workers became the most productive workers in the world . We had the greatest increase in wages and income in the world. We had the greatest economy. We had the greatest prosperity and highest wages in the world.

All of this happened because we put limits on immigration. Unions had nothing to do with this.  They were very weak during the 1920s.

The 1920s were when almost every family got an automobile. It was when the suburbs were built. It was when America’s unique middle class was created.

11:20

Those limits on immigration also did something else. They created Americans. Because only small numbers of immigrants came after 1920, all immigrants quickly learned English and American culture. Almost all immigrants became more American than most Americans within a short period of time.  I know that happened with my family.

And by the way, there is another myth be need to deal with. Even during the mass immigration for 50 years between 1870 and 1920, we were NEVER a multicultural nation.

We always had one American culture. Reach into your pocket and take out any coin. Every coin has a slogan on it that says “E pluribus unam”. It means “Out of many comes one.”

12:01

I remember many stories in my own family. They say my grandmother came from Eastern Europe proudly owning a dollar bill.  She was proud to have that dollar bill, but not because it was money. It was because it had a picture of George Washington on it, And even thougfh she grew up in Europe and did not speak a world of English, she knew all about George Washington and what a great man he was.

She knew that George Washington was the father of the United States and that the United States was the greatest nation in the world. She knew that George Washington could have been a King. She knew that George Washington could have been an Emperor. She knew that the greatest thing that George Washington did was to walk away from that. She knew that George Washington said we Americans didn’t fight this long war to replace one king with another.  We fought this war to create a country that was run by we, the people. And people all over the world knew that,

My grandmother also told us another story about her name. In the Old Country, my grandmother’s name was Basha. She had a sister named Shprintze, another named Leah, and another named Khaya, just like in Fiddler on the Roof.

However, after just a few weeks, they changed their names on their own, when my grandmother was still in kindergarten. On their own, as children, without anyone telling them, my grandmother Basha would only call herself Betty, Shprintze became Sadie, Leah became Lizzie, and Khaya became Clara.

Every immigrant quickly adopted our American culture not because anyone forced them. They did it because they loved America and loved American culture. Nobody played soccer. Everybody played baseball. Back then immigrants loved baseball because they knew that no other country in the world had baseball.

13:33

When I talk about immigration like this, many people come to me and say, “You’re Jewish! How can you possibly be for limits on immigration. That is why Jews trying to get out of Nazi Germany couldn’t come to America. That is why they died during the Holocaust.”

That is simply not true. Many books have told the truth about this. One of  them is a great book by Erik Larson called “In the Garden of Beasts”. It documents in agreat detail how when Jews were fleeing Germany there were plenty of openings in the immigration quotas to let them in under existing immigration laws. It was antisemites in the State Department appointed by President Franklin D Roosevelt who deliberately kept German Jews out of America, even though there was plenty of room in the quotas under the 1920 immigration laws.

14:19

Roosevelt’s antisemites in the State Department used a lot of dirty tricks. For example, they would say, “We can’t process your application untilbwe get a note of recommendation from your local police chief.”  Of course, that was usually impossible because the local police chief was often the head of the Gestapo. So the immigration quotas had nothing to do with keeping Jews out of America before the Holocaust.

Above Image: Statue of “Liberty Illuminating the World.”

And by the way, the Statue of Liberty was not built to welcome immigrants. The official name of the Statute of Liberty is “Liberty Illuminating the World.” It was a gift from the people of France.

They gave it to us to thank us. They were grateful that Americans had proven to the world that  people could run a successful country by themselves without kings or dictators or a nobility to control people. Americans proved that such a country could provide to more Liberty and Prosperity to more of its citizens than any other country onearth.

They built that statue to inspire the world. Its message is that anyone in the world can live the American Dream in their own country. They don’t have to come to America. They simply have to embrace our Americans values, laws, and traditions. That was the original purpose of the Statute of Liberty.

15:07

She is holding up a torch with her right hand to light the way and invite the rest of the world to follow her. She is holding a book with her left hand. It contains the date July 4th, 1776. That book represents our Declaration of Independence.

Abraham Lincoln reminded us that our Declaration of Independence did far more than separate the colonies from the motherland. It held these truths to be self-evident:

“We are all created equal and endowed by our Creator with certain unalienable rights. That among these are Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness. And that to secure these rights, we institute governments, exercising their just powers with the consent of the governed.

That was the original message of the Statue of Liberty. Yes, there is a poem by Emma Lazarus written on the pedestal of the Statue of Liberty. Yes, it says:

“Give me your tired, your poor, Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free, The wretched refuse of your teeming shore. Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me, I lift my lamp beside the golden door!”

But that poem was added to the pedestal of the Statue of Liberty as an afterthought. It was added as part of that 50-year debate between 1870 and 1920 over whether we should put limits on immigration.

However, at the end of that 50-year debate, Americans overwhelmingly agreed that there was a need to limit immigration to 100,000 per year.

And we basically had that limit for the next 45 years, to 1965.

After President John F. Kennedy was murdered in 1963, Lyndon Johnson became President and Democrats gained a supermajority in Congress. Ted Kennedy became a U.S. Senator. And Ted Kennedy, unlike his older brother, was an extreme leftist.

In 1965, President Lyndon Johnson and Ted Kennedy radically changed our immigrationlaws. They basically increased legal immigration from roughly 100,000 per year to 400,000 per year, a 400% increase.

Even worse, they also mandated that almost all new immigrants had to be from certain poverty stricken countries where the people had been taught since childhood to blame every problem in their lives and every problem in their country on America.

For more than 50 years, we have been bringing those people into our country year after year. And we’ve been allowing millions more to come here with fake claims of asylum.

To get asylum, you need to prove you are being persecuted for your beliefs in your own country. Yet we have allowed millions of people to claim asylum, even though many of them are Muslims who claim they are being persecuted in Muslim countries.

And we have given all of them free housing, food, medical care and education.  So in 2020, roughly 44 million people, or 13.5% of our population was foreign born. And roughly 20 million were in this country illegally.

16:58

And that does not include the 20 to 30 million illegal migrants that are in the country illegally.  four years ago. And it does not include the 8 million foreigners who President Biden allowed to illegally come into this country during the past three years.

This is an invasion. It means that your children grandchildren nieces and nephews will be living as persecuted minorities in their own country unless something is done very soon.

So what do we have to do? Many of the politicians we need to seal the border. That is no solution. If you have a leaky pipe that’s been leaking water for months and flooded your basement, it’s not enough to fix the leak.  You need to remove the water from your basement.  sewage that has already poured into your house. Otherwise the foundation of your house is going to rot and collapse.  You need to pump that water out of your basement. You need to undo the damage.

Well you can’t fix our immigration problem unless we deport millions of the illegals who are already here.

When I ran for Congress in 2018, President Trump started a policy of only deporting illegals if they committed other crimes.  Back then, President Trump did not want immigration enforcement that would have TV images of innocent wives and children crying when illegal husbands and dads were departed.

However, we have to understand that if we as a nation can’t enforce our immigration laws, we’re not going to have a country and we’re not going to deserve a country.

We cannot allow people who have broken our laws to be in this country to stay here.

I talked about this years ago when I spoke to Greenwich Tea Party meetings at the Grange Hall.  I said imagine that people rob a bank, and then take the money and drive away in their get-away car.

Imagine if the police said, we can only arrest bank robbers if they are still inside the bank.  However, once they leave the parking lot, we are not allowed to chase and arrest them. If you make it past the parking lot, you can keep the money and nobody will chase you.

If we did that with bank robbers, people would be robbing banks all the time.

That is how we are now enforcing our immigration laws. And it’s got to change.  Here’s what needs to be done.

Everyone knows this is what we need to do. The only question is are Americans now too lazy, or cynical, or cowardly to do what is necessary to defend our country?

Are today’s Boomer parents unwilling to protect their children and grandchildren?

First Step should be an immediate moratorium on all legal immigration except for perhaps the emergency unification of husband and wives. However, we should freeze all new immigration of  brothers and sisters and aunts, uncles and cousins like we have going on now.

Every time you see some compromise bill in Congress, you see exceptions.  Let’s allow 5,000 or 10,000.  No, it shou be zero!

The Second Step must be the immediate arrest and deportation of all foreigners who illegally entered the United States within the past 10 years. Why the past 10 years? Because if we try

to arrest 50 or 60 million people, we won’t be able to do it. However, it is possible to arrest and deport 5 to 12 million people.

President John F. Kennedy, the President who inspirfed me as a kid said that a journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.

As a lawyer I know it’s very easy to identify illegal immigrants. We don’t have to do raids and bed checks. Eeverybody needs a welfare payment or government check sooner or later. They  have kids at school. People run a red light they get stopped by police. Little by little systematic enforcement will fix this problem.

Third, there must be the arrest and prosecution and forfeiture of property of anyone who interferes with the lawful arrest and deportation of foreigners illegally in this country

21:14

That will be painful. I’m sure many churches will call themselves sanctuaries. They will allow illegals to live there. But we don’t have to send police to arrest people there. We don’t need confrontations at churches. But we can quietly start forfeiture proceedings to seize the title to those churches at the court house. We can easily treat people who give money to people who break the law the way the FBI treated people who helped January 6, protestors. Law enforcement has enormous powers when they want to do something, but are always helpless when it comes to doing something they don’t want to do. We need to make law enforcement officials want to enforce immigration laws.

21:50

There is also an easy work around to “anchor babies.”  This is a difficult problem. The 14th Amendment of the Constitution was written after the Civil War. It basically says that every person born in America is a U.S. citizen. It was obviously intended to give citizenship to black slaves in the South after they became free.  However, the plain language seems to say that children of illegal immigrants are American citizens if they are born here.

We would have to amend the Constitution or get a new Supreme Court ruling to change that.

However, a child who is a U.S. citizen does not automatically have a right to live here.  If he is a dependent minor, and his or her parents are illegal aliens, the U.S. citizen child goes with his or her illegal alien parents if the parents are deported. That is well settled international family law. The illegal immigrant parents have no right to live in the United States, even if one of their children is a U.S. citizen.  Of course, when the child becomes an adult, he or she then has the right to live in the United States.  However, his or her parents have no such right.

Hopefully, this will not be a problem, because hopefully, we fix our broken immigration system by then. This shows that it is easy to solve difficult problems if you want to solve them.  However, it is impossible to solve easy problems if you don’t want to solve them.

Finally, we have all of these phony asylum applications. Asylum means you are coming to our country because you are being persecuted for your political or religious beliefs in your home country. It is absolutely ridiculous for Muslims to leave a Muslim majority country and ask for asylum in a Christian country like the United States. Robert Kennedy, a conservative Democrat running for President, went to the border in Texas and interviewed a busload of foreigner applying for asylum. Of the 48 people on that bus, only 2 had even a possible case for asylum.

So we need to appoint emergency judges and hearing officers to hear the claim the claims of all foreigners who claim asylum. And if they don’t show up for the hearing or if they’re denied at the hearing then they have to be deported.

Isn’t it amazing that we have a problem deporting people who have no business being in our country while the North Koreans and Iranians don’t seem to have any problem. Actually, Hungry now doesn’t have that problem either.

No country that that respects itself and its people has that problem. Only people who want to destroy America, or who want to cause the “fundamental transformation of America” seem to be unable to keep out people who have no legal right to be in our country.

24:49

My final message is this. We must openly talk about what we need to do. And we have to be prepared to be called the ugliest names for telling the truth. They will call us un-Christian, un-American, inhuman, right wing, white nationalists.

They will call us haters. But we don’t hate anybody. We love our children. We love our grandchildren. We want them to live in a safe, free, and prosperous America like the America that our parents and grandparents gave us.
