JOHN DEMASI:  What do you have to say about the election for NJ Governor between Mikie Sherrill and Jack Ciattarelli?

NJ ELECTION FOR GOVERNOR:  MIKIE SHERRILL’S ENTIRE CAMPAIGN IS BASED ON LIES:

SETH GROSSMAN: As we say every week, Mikie Sherrill’s entire campaign is based on lies. She is lying about her military record. She spent very little time flying helicopters and was never anywhere near a war zone. She was behind a desk, working for an admiral at headquarters in Naples, Italy as a “Russian policy expert” most of her career. She was a fake prosecutor. Uh, her job, she was a counselor. She worked at the U.S. Attorney’s office, but she didn’t prosecute cases.  She was an “outreach and re-entry coordinator”. She spent all but her last six months as a counselor for criminals who got out of prison. She helped them get counseling, jobs, housing, and health care.  In her last couple of months, they gave her a few dozen minor possession of marijuana offenses on government property to plea bargain.  All of those cases ended up with dismissals, probation or a fine.

Sherrill’s plan to cut electric rates is completely fake. She says she’s going to have a state of emergency to freeze electric rate hikes. But she’s a lawyer and she knows she can’t do that.  She knows that Murphy shut down six of our most productive power plants. New Jersey now has to buy almost half of our electricity from out of state and Canada at very expensive rates. And there’s nothing Mikey Sherrill can do with the Board of Public Utilities or anybody else to change that.  The 5th Amendment of our Constitution says the government can’t force a company to sell something for less than what it costs to make it. The only one who has a plan to change that is Jack Ciattarelli. Ciattarelli is promising to rebuild, reopen, or replace those six power plants that Murphy shut down. And that’s the only way to bring down the price of electricity. What Sherrill is saying is an absolute lie!

Mikie Sherrill is lying through her teeth about Jack Ciattarelli wanting to raise the sales tax. Anyone who listens to the recording of what Jack said knows Jack was answering a routine question about the sales tax in Tennessee. And you’ll notice her ad says, Jack Ciattarelli talked about a 10% sales tax. Yeah, he talked about a 10% sales tax in Tennessee. Total lie that he ever said anything about that kind of a tax in New Jersey.

And of course, Mikie Sherrill supports sanctuary for illegals in New Jersey.  We have 600,000 illegals in New Jersey. They are costing us a fortune in state tax money, local tax money. We raise our electric rates and our water rates and all our utility rates to give free service to tens of thousands of illegals. And of course, Mikie Sherrill co-sponsored a bill in Congress to give reparations for slavery, something not even most Democrats agree to. And finally, if you go into her background, you see that Mikie Sherrill was groomed and financed by the same radical, leftist, George Soros billionaire types who groomed uh AOC and Cory Booker and Kamala Harris. So really, she’s as radical as Mamdani in New York.  Her whole pro-American, military, ordinary working mom image is all fake.

JACK CIATTARELLI TV ADS DON’T EXPOSE SHERRILL LIES, DON’T EXPLAIN HOW HIS “10 POINT AFFORDABILITY PLAN” IS REAL.  “BUT WHAT DO I KNOW?”

So we know that. And that is what we need to tell everybody we know. But unfortunately, you know, establishment Republicans have a guy called Chris Russell running the campaign. And the Jack Ciattarelli’s TV ads that I say don’t say any of this stuff. All I see are ads that say “I’m Jack Ciattarelli, and I’m a Jersey guy. And I have this 10 Point Affordability Plan.  So Jack has a Plan and Mikie Sherrill has a plan.  Jack’s plan is real and Mikie Sherrill’s plan is fake.  But Jack’s ads don’t explain that. And with all those lies we know about Mikie Sherrill aren’t mentioned in any of Jack’s TV commercials.  We just hear about that $7 million from inside trading in the stock market, but most voters expect stuff like that from all politicians. Anyway, that’s Jack’s campaign. They’re supposed to be the experts. But as they say in Italian, “But what do I know?

JOHN DEMASI: That’s right.

SETH GROSSMAN:  they’re doing it their way and I hope to God they know what they’re doing.

Host: I hope so too.

AND THEN THERE’S TRUMP.

SETH GROSSMAN:  And then there’s Trump. I keep saying, don’t make this Governor’s race about Trump. Because if people are talking about Trump, Jack has a much, much harder job. I’d say about 40% to 45% of New Jersey voters just don’t like Trump.  I think everybody sees that, everybody knows that. . . Except, of course Trump. So Trump is talking about building his ballroom at the White House, he doesn’t like the commercial that a Canadian province ran on TV, he’s blowing up boats in in in the Caribbean. He’s doing all this stuff to make himself headline news.  And that makes things harder for Ciattarelli in New Jersey and for Winsome Sears, the Republican running for Governor in Virginia.

I know this for a fact. Before I got on the air, I was with the coffee and bagels crowd at a high-rise uh in Atlantic City. And I was asking the people there, “Well, what do you think of the race between Jack Ciattarelli and Mikie Sherrill?” And all they told me was how much they didn’t like Trump. I don’t like this. This is completely unfair to Jack Ciattarelli. But that’s the reality.

We had 3,000 people turn out for the “No Kings” protest in Ocean City last Saturday. And you know, none of them are going to vote for Jack Ciattarelli, they’ll all vote for Sherrill. And right now, they’re all energized. They weren’t like that a few months ago. So, we have to talk to the people we know on a one by on one-on-one basis about these issues that I talked about. About how fake Mikie Sherrill is, how she’s lying completely about everything in her campaign. We have to tell them how Jack Ciattarelli is the accountant, the honest guy with experience who knows how to lower the electric rates by rebuilding the power plants and who knows how to cut the waste and spending that’s causing our taxes to go up. But it’s hard. The burden is on us because that message is just not coming across on Jack’s TV ads, at least as I see it.

JOHN DEMASI:  Yeah, I can’t see it either. And I’m just wondering why they’re not attacking more. I don’t know. I don’t know.

SETH GROSSMAN:  Well, you’re speaking Italian too! “But what do we know?”

Host: What do we know? What do we know?

SETH GROSSMAN:  Meanwhile, uh on our libertyandprosperity.com website, we have something very interesting. Uh, we took the debate between the assembly candidates for Eastern Atlantic County. And when I say Eastern Atlantic County, it’s called the Second Legislative District. It goes from uh Mays Landing and Galloway Township in the west to Brigantine, Atlantic City, Ventnor, Margate, Longport along the beaches. Right now Don Guardian and Claire Swift are the Republican assembly people for that district, and I think they’re going to be on your show later on today.

JOHN DEMASI:  Yes they are.

SETH GROSSMAN:  And their opponents are Democrats Joanne Famularo, a member of the Pleasantville City Council and Maureen Rowan, a retired lawyer who lives in Atlantic City. And if you listen to the debate, you’ll see that the Democrats said the same woke stuff and there’s no way any thinking person uh could vote for them.

But like that great Republican President Warren Harding once said, “I can lick my enemies any day of the week, but my friends, my blankety-blank friends, they’re the ones who keep me walking the floors at night.” So, want to know what I’m talking about, go to our website and watch the one hour video. Or You can read all eleven questions and answers in 8 to 10 minutes. I really think it’s worth the time.

WHAT DOES “PUT SOUTH JERSEY FIRST” REALLY MEAN?

So here’s what you get from the Republicans, and I’m I’m hoping that Don Guardian and Claire Swift will maybe clear things up when they’re on your show later on. But at the debate, they said our top priority is to put South Jersey first. And when you hear that, it sounds great at first. But when you go in the details, you realize that it is ridiculous. What does it really mean when South Jersey legislators say, “We want to put South Jersey first”?

It means that we in South Jersey have 6 Districts out of 40. So we have 15% of the votes in the New Jersey Lgislature. So how can you put South Jersey first if you only have 15% of the votes? It means if you’re a Republican, you have to sell out to the Democrat majority every time you can. And then once in a while, the Democrats throw you a few a few crumbs. That’s what “Put South Jersey First” means.

So, when Republicans Claire Swift and Don Guardian brag, “We got $10 million for the Atlantic City Boardwalk. We got money for AtlantiCare. We got money for the Boys and Girls Club.” So, what was the price that we paid? Well, obviously, for us to get stuff like that for our 15% of the State, they had to agree to give away a whole lot more to be wasted by the other 85% of the State.

And who paid for all this stuff? Who paid for that $10 million Boardwalk in Atlantic City? Well, New Jersey used to have the lowest gasoline tax in America. Now we have one of the highest taxes. And if you go to Florida, it used to be that our gas prices were cheaper than Florida, but Florida had a bunch of great roads. Now we’re 20 cents a gallon more than Florida, and we still have crappy roads and lots of tolls. And that’s because we turned the Transportation Trust Fund into a political slush fund that is no longer used for just highways, roads and bridges. Now it pays for Boardwalks in Atlantic City and pedestrian malls in Wildwood. So, Republicans from South Jersey who say, “Put South Jersey First” are really saying “Let’s Help North Jersey Democrats Ruin the Whole State”.

I really hope Jack Ciattarelli makes it. We need him to straighten out the Republicans down here as much as the Democrats in Trenton.

Above Image: Republican Assembly Members Simonsen and McClellan of Cape May County praise the New Jersey “ANCHOR” Program in 2022. However, that program was never “Property Tax Relief”. It was always “Income Redistribution” and a shell game scam. It paid for small tax breaks to selected voters with big tax hikes on the businesses they worked for and patronized.

THOSE TAX REBATE PROGRAMS ARE SCAMS. REPUBLICANS SHOULD NOT BE DEFENDING THEM.

Those Republicans were also defending Governor Murphy’s ANCHOR tax rebates, the Senior Tax Freeze, and the Stay New Jersey tax rebates. But they are scams. They are not tax relief. Property taxes in New Jersey are going up for two reasons. Number one, the Democrats use about 2/3 of the Property Tax Relief funds to cut taxes in just a few dozen Democrat-run towns. Remember that every nickel of the New Jersey State Income Tax goes into something called the Property Tax Relief Fund. Right now, the Democrats hardly any of that money goes to suburban or Republican run towns.

I was surprised that during the debate, Joanne Famularo, a Democrat City Council member from Pleasantville actually bragged that this State Property Tax Relief Fund pays 92% of the cost of the public schools in Pleasantville. They State pays only about 10% to 20% of the budgets for public schools in towns like Absecon, Northfield, Linwood, or Somers Point, Margate, or Longport. So to fix the problem of property taxes, we need to distribute those funds equally to every student and every town.  Republican State Senator Mike Doherty came up with that plan years ago when Chris Christie was Governor, but Republicans never talk about this.

Another thing that came up in the debate, why property taxes are so high, is that if you have one disabled kid or one kid who has what they call special needs, it costs $100,000 a year for that one student. And all we heard the Republicans say was “Oh, we have to have the state pay more money to the local districts for this $100,000 a year.” And nobody is talking about how to cut that cost down to something taxpayers can afford.  It should not cost $100,000 a year. How is that money benefitting the student or the rest of us. What skills can we teach those kids to be productive citizens.  Years ago, we did that for a fraction of the cost. Why can’t we do that now?  It’s often unpleasant to talk about problems like this, but what we are doing now is simply not sustainable.

JOHN DEMASI: Boy, you got a lot on your agenda today.

Above Image: Margate Boardwalk After 1944 Hurricane

SETH GROSSMAN:  I just thought of one more thing at that debate that irritated me.  One of the questions in the debate was “What are you going to do about flooding during Northeast Storms by the Jersey Shore? And the two Democrats, of course, said, “Well, we have a lot of flooding because climate change is causing beach erosion.” They actually said that. You know, the the ocean has been moving sand on the beach for billions of years. And we know that sea level has been rising since the end of the Ice Age. But they’re saying, “Well, we have to address climate change. We have to have wind turbines, and we have to have solar panels.” We talked about this a lot for the past year.  That is totally ridiculous. But how did Don Guardian’s respond to that ridiculous statement? He said, “I absolutely agree.”

So, we need Republicans to start delivering Republican messages. The short answer is the wind turbines and solar panels are absolutely worthless. They’re driving up the cost of electricity because it’s like having two cars. You have two cars in your garage. One works all the time, and one breaks down every 5 miles. And when that car breaks down, you have to get a tow truck and you have to get a rental car and you have to get an Uber to replace it. And that is what solar panels and wind turbines do. You can’t have an electric grid powered by a system that shuts down every time it’s night, a system that shuts down every time a cloud goes by, shuts down every time the wind changes speed by 5 or 10 miles an hour. It just doesn’t work. You can’t do it. The only solution is nuclear. But as long as you have Republicans going along with the Democrats on this nonsense, we’re never going to get any change. It was just frustrating to hear that.

Above Image: Northeast Storm Causes Flooding, Damage and Deaths Along New Jersey Shore in 1950.

And finally, one more thing about flooding here at the shore. We are a beach resort. To have a beach resort, you have to be next to the ocean and the Bay.  If you’re next to the ocean or the Bay, you’re going to have floods.  If you can’t live with flooding a couple of times a year during bad storms or full moon tides, or a bad storm every 20 years, you should live on high ground somewhere else. This is the price we pay for being a seaside resort where people like to go swimming and boating and fishing. I think we have to honestly say that.

And as for Climate Change, it is ironic, but in the Jewish tradition, we read a portion of the Bible every week. And last week, we started the yearly cycle by reading the first chapter of Genesis, the first Book in the Old Testament of the Bible. Last week, we did the story of Adam and Eve and the Garden of Eden. And this week, we’re reading the second portion. We’re reading the story of Noah and the flood. And it so happens that Noah’s flood is consistent with the science. When the Ice Age ended, uh the sea levels rose by 125 feet, and we had flooding all over the world. And every single civilization has a flood story from that point of view. So that’s what Climate Change is all about. We need Republicans who can say that.

One final point, where is all of this nonsense taking us, the national debt passed $38 trillion last week.

That’s 38 thousand billion dollars. Gold is now $4,100 an ounce. Silver is $48 an ounce. So gold is up $1,300 or  since last year. Silver is up $14 or 29% since last year.

And they just told us that the average price of a new car is now $50,000. But if you look at it another way, that average new car costs only about 1,000 silver dollars.

Back in 1964, a Ford Mustang was $2,500. So you needed 2,500 silver dollars to buy a Ford Mustang back in 1964. But only uh 1,000 silver dollars will get you a new car today. So things are not getting more expensive. It’s more like our money is rapidly becoming worthless. That’s because Americans today want government to spend, spend, spend, but everybody wants somebody else to pay for what they want. So this is where we end up.

And I think this explains why so many young people are so angry at us Boomers. It’s not so much they want socialism, when they support guys like Mamdani in New York. This may be their way of saying “Burn it all down!  We have no future with this system. We don’t want to pay this debt for our Boomer parents and grandparents. We don’t want to work at these crappy jobs all our lives to pay their Medicare, pensions and Social Security. We don’t want to pay back loans for worthless college diplomas that Boomers got for free. And so they’re rebelling against the whole system.

But anyway, that’s our cheerful message for libertyandprosperity.com. It’s all posted on the website. So please read it there. And if you like it, please share it. And if you don’t like it, please come to our Saturday morning breakfast or please make a comment and tell us about it.
