These distorted, sinister images are called “Stuermer” (Stormtrooper) caricatures. ? They take their name from that Nazi newspaper which used them so effectively in the 1920s & 1930s. ? They were so effective in dehumanizing Jews and anyone who publicly opposed the Nazis, that most Germans soon agreed with Hitler that these evil creatures had to be eliminated.
