1972-1990: Grows up in suburbs of Washington, D.C.
1994: Does not graduate with her class. Remains at Annapolis Naval Academy for an additional 8 ½ months after normal graduation. Begins as Ensign (O-1. Same as Army 2d Lieutenant) upon graduation. Required to serve 8 years as condition for free tuition at Naval Academy.
1995-2003: Promoted to Lieutenant J.G. (O-2. Same as Army 1st Lieutenant). Then promoted to Fully Navy Lieutenant (O-3. Same as Army Captain) in fourth year. Retires at that rank.
In 2000, Sherril is based in Corpus Christi, Texas. She is then assigned to the headquarters of U.S. Naval Forces in Europe in Naples, Italy. Her job is “Russian policy officer”. She retires after 8 years in 2003 with same rank of Navy Lieutenant (O-3. Same sa Army Captain).

2011-2015: Mikie Sherrill leaves Kirkland & Ellis to become an “outreach and re-entry coordinator” for the U.S. Attorney’s Office under President Obama. She described her duties as follows:
“I worked on the relationship between the office and different community members to build stronger ties between law enforcement and the community. . . I also helped to start the district’s first re-entry court — it was a prisoner re-entry court — and in that effort, we would work with people coming out of federal prison to help work on the recidivism rate, to lower the rate of people who commit further offenses. And we do that by helping with housing and jobs, counseling services. That kind of thing. . . “
2015: Mike Sherrill is hired as an Assistant U.S. Attorney for New Jersey by Paul Fishman.****

Fishman joined the United States Department of Justice under Janet Reno in 1994 as counsel to the deputy attorney general. He was named associate deputy attorney general in 1995, serving until 1997.[1]
In 1997, he left the U.S. Department of Justice to become a partner in the highly political lawfirm of Friedman Kaplan Seiler & Adelman in Newark, New Jersey. . His clients included Carla Katz, the former president of the Communications Workers of America who dated New Jersey Governor Jon Corzine. He also represented Encap Golf Holdings, a company that was contracted to build golf courses and homes on remediated landfills in the New Jersey Meadowlands. Both of these clients were targets of investigations by the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
Fishman led the investigation involving the closing of lanes on the George Washington Bridge as part of alleged political reprisal by Republican Governor Chris Christie. The resulting indictments led to the guilty plea of David Weinstein as well as the trial of Bridget Ann Kelly and Bill Baroni. After a month-long trial, Kelly and Baroni were both convicted of nine counts. On May 7, 2020, the Supreme Court unanimously overturned the convictions of Kelly and Baroni.
In 2009, President Obama appointed Paul Fishman to be the U.S. Attorney for the District of Attorney. He stayed in that position until Trump replaced him in 2017.
2016: Mikie Sherrill leaves the U.S. Attorney’s office after one year. She states that she wants to go into the field of “criminal justice reform”.
2017: Mikie Sherrill begins her campaign for U.S. Congress.
2018: Mikie Sherrill received $2.8 million for her Primary Election Campaign. She wins 77% of the vote in the Primary and defeats four other Democratic Party candidates. She then receives $1.9 million in three months for the general election campaign. This sets a record for campaign funding in New Jersey. Sherrill defeats Republican Jay Webber with 56.8% of the vote in the 2018 “Blue Wave” Election. She is easily re-elected in 2020 and 2022.
