We warned that?spending $400 million of state taxpayer and pension fund money to bail out the failed Revel Casino project would knock other casinos out of business and kill more jobs than it created.?? We warned that the bi-partisan?13% state hotel tax, plus? 3% luxury tax, 7% sales tax, plus? casino garage parking tax, plus the high county, school, and local property tax, plus CRDA tax, plus?double electric bills to pay for ?green? energy, etc. were killing casinos and all business in Atlantic City.?? The Governor’s irrational and unnecessary closing of all casinos, and blockading the whole island for 6 days, when the casinos were the safest place in South Jersey to be, did far more damage than the storm to many Atlantic City businesses–including the casinos.?? No Liberty = No Prosperity.?? But neither Christie Republicans nor Sweeney Democrats, nor the big newspapers who cover for them mention the connection between oppressive, “pay-to-play” government and a dead economy in NJ.?? Instead they demand even more state government bailouts and borrowing–and more money for slick radio and TV ads to improve the image of Atlantic City.???? Seth Grossman, Executive Director.
