Last month, we reported on how “woke” climate alarmists forced Atlantic City Electric Company to apply for 17% rate hikes starting this June. That is on top of the 20% rate hikes we got last year.

The massive rate increases are all caused by Governor Murphy’s “green” energy plan. Since 2017, Murphy shut down affordable and reliable natural gas and nuclear power plants in Marmora (Upper Township) and Oyster Creek (Lacey Township). He forced electric companies to instead by expensive “green” energy from out of state. Murphy also forced every electric company to spend millions of dollars on planning, permits, and cables for expensive, unreliable, and inefficient turbines.

Democrats know that this is causing them to lose votes. However, they are not willing to end their support for wind and solar. They just want someone other than their voters to pay for them.
Last week, the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities announced plans to force electric companies to charge customers based on household income, rather than the cost of the electricity they sell. That would force wealthy or middle-class customers to pay 50% more while others would pay little or no increase. And existing programs that now force electric companies to give free electricity to thousands of low-income customers, including illegal immigrants would continue.

This is another example of how liberty creates prosperity, while socialism destroys it.
Liberty lets people and businesses make the most important decisions affecting their own lives. It rewards people and businesses that make smart choices. It punishes those who make bad ones.
Socialism rewards people who have political power and punishes people who don’t. It encourages people to spend their time and money on winning elections rather than producing what people want and need.
If this BPU plan is approved, thousands of voters will continue to vote for Democrats and their “green” energy agenda, even though it raises the cost of electricity. That is because those higher costs will be paid by “somebody else”.
Since the 1960s, Democrats in New Jersey and throughout America have done this with health care, colleges, public schools, public transportation, and real estate taxes.

There is too much politics in the NJBPU. They need to be cleaned out! I can’t believe that they would even consider this plan. Thousands of people complained about their electric bills last summer and these people have the audacity to EVEN think about raising rates again??!? Can’t get blood from a stone. Why don’t they check the salaries of ALL the people who want to punish the working class by making us pay more and more and more. The salaries are astounding, greedy and ridiculous! The social class mindset does not work! I don’t believe in punishing someone because they are doing better than someone else. It is human nature to be competitive, that’s what makes us grow and learn. Take your socialism agenda and…..!!!!!!!
New Jersey created its BPU (Board of Public Utilities) in 1930s. According to “progressive” New Deal Democrats, government control was needed to stop private utility companies from gouging their customers. However, since Gov. Jim McGreevey in 2002, Democrats have used the BPU to force utilities to raise prices and gouge consumers. At first, Democrats did this to force utilities to fund various vote buying programs like “free” gas and electric and “energy saving” home repairs, and appliances. Then Govs. Corzine and Murphy used BPU to also fund Democrat “Green Energy” programs. Utilities are forced to buy unstable, unreliable, intermittent solar and wind energy they don’t want or need. They are forced to pay for permits, planning, and cables for wind turbines that will never be built. They forced electric companies to destroy productive, low-cost natural gas and nuclear power plants at Marmora (Upper Township) and Oyster Creek (Lacey Twp) and buy expensive “green” energy from out-of-state. High salaries and pensions for BPU employees are a problem, but not the main cause of these price hikes.
