New Nuclear Plant Gives Finland Lowest Electric Rates In Europe

“The primary reason for the low prices is a seasonal drop in electricity consumption combined with increased production. . . Finland has produced a surplus of electricity, especially following the completion of the Olkiluoto 3 nuclear power plant in 2023.

Finland has 5.56 million people, or half as much as New Jersey. Can New Jersey have the lowest electric rates in America by building two nuclear reactors instead of hundreds of expensive, inefficient and high maintenance ocean wind turbines? Shouldn’t this be headline news? Shouldn’t we be talking about this?

Meanwhile, New Jersey prepares for endless rate increases by investing in expensive, untested, inefficient ocean wind turbines. Wind turbines are expensive and inefficient for many reasons. Wind energy cannot be stored so electricity produced when not needed is “dumped” and wasted. Expensive duplicated oil and natural gas generators are needed to stop the grid from crashing when there is not enough wind.
