Our electric bills pay for many things that have nothing to do with electricity. One of them is a “climate crisis” slush fund called the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative, R. G. G. I., or REGGIE.

Greenhouse gas is carbon dioxide. It’s the lifegiving gas that we breathe out and that green plants breathe in.

Last month, the Fund gave three million dollars to the Wetlands Institute in Stone Harbor. It’s for a project that has nothing to do with Greenhouse gas.

It will pay to “restore” a swamp by moving tons of mud, planting weeds, and raising the level of a hiking trail.
Should we raise our electric bills even more to do this? We already raised rates by shutting down power plants and paying for useless wind turbines and solar panels. We then raised them more to pay for Energy Star “rebates” to selected customers and contractors. We then raised them even more on “Societal Benefits” fee to give free and reduced rate electricity to illegal aliens and other living in mostly Democrat areas. What did they Republic leaders do to make people aware of this? How many used this as a campaign issue last November?

During the past nine years, Democrats running New Jersey did many things like this to needlessly cause big increases in our gas, electric, and property tax bills. They also made housing, insurance, and college unaffordable for most families.
Very few Republicans openly opposed them. Maybe that’s why Republicans lost every statewide election since 2013.
At our February fundraiser, State Senator Mike Testa urged Republicans to speak out on these issues. However, only two Republican leaders in Atlantic County came to hear him. They were Sheriff Joe O’Donoghue and Atlantic City Councilman Jesse Kurtz.
Do more than vote. Be part of a political party and work to make it better.
