NJ State Constitution Requires Balance Budget

Sadly, few Americans today have read our United States Constitution. Even fewer know anything about our New Jersey State Constitution.

However, both are vitally important.

For example, our New Jersey State Constitution, unlike our Federal Constitution, requires a balanced budget.

Our state government cannot borrow money, unless most voters approve.

Our State Constitution also requires that all real estate taxes have to be paid equally by everybody. There are just a few exceptions for farmers, veterans, senior citizens, and redevelopment of blighted areas

We are in a court case because New Jersey politicians made a new law to have Atlantic City’s nine casinos pay less in their real estate taxes, and to have every other piece of real estate in Atlantic County pay more.
