Seth Grossman Weekly Radio Message At 9:10AM Every Saturday With John DeMasi On 95.5FM WPG Radio Near Atlantic City, NJ:
SETH GROSSMAN: First, I invite everybody to go to libertyandprosperity.com where you can read about all the issues I don’t get to on the radio. And we also post the recording of what we’re talking about right now, together with this written transcript. That way you can read our 15-minute conversation in three minutes! Then please share it with your friends by clicking the Facebook or X (Twitter) icons at the bottom of the post.
I’d like to begin with the blatant lies by the mainstream media about what Donald Trump said about Liz Cheney a few days ago. Trump was doing a routine interview when Liz Cheney came up. Liz Cheney has been a strong advocate of the U.S. taking military action around the world. Specifically, she talked about taking military action against Russia in the Ukraine, possibly because the North Korean troops are there. I forget exactly what it was. But apparently, Liz Cheney was advocating some risky military action somewhere that would involve some consequences. And Trump made a normal remark. He said, well, you know, Liz Cheney is always advocating all these wars and military action from sitting safely on a sofa in her home. But if she were out in the front line with guns. 9 guns shooting at her face, maybe she wouldn’t be saying those things.
And that’s a pretty fair and reasonable thing to say. But if you watched, David Muir on, ABC National News last night, you saw something far different. Muir reported that Trump was at a campaign event “Imagining guns shooting at Liz Cheney and trained at her face”. He then quoted Kamala Harris as saying, “Trump’s violent rhetoric makes him unqualified to be President again”. So, the national news is making it sound like Trump wants to assassinate his political opponents. And ABC national TV news just went on and on. It completely mischaracterized what Trump said, and the context he said it in. And then it showed more clips of Kamala Harris saying, “Oh, Trump is so dangerous and disqualified to be President. He wants to have 8 guns assassinate a political opponent. I mean, did you did you see how they distorted that completely?
JOHN DEMASI: Yes. I saw that. Yes.
SETH GROSSMAN: Yes. But that but that was not a TV commercial. That was David Muir, ABC, National News, treating all that garbage as if it were news! This is what Republicans, and this is what Trump, are up against. So we have to pay attention to it.
JOHN DEMASI: Yeah. I I saw that too.
SETH GROSSMAN: I said this last week. ABC National TV News is nothing but a big, long infomercial for Kamala Harris. And here we go again. But this is more than just an infomercial. Last night they took a blatant mischaracterization of a statement, a blatant lie, and just repeated the lie over and over and over again as if it were news. And you have to understand that a certain part of the population watches that and believes that. That is why it is so important to get involved with groups like Liberty and Prosperity and use research tools like ReclaimTheNews.com to get our news from other sources. And then we need to talk to our friends about how what we see on TV are just blatant lies. That’s part of our mission at libertyandprosperity.com. But we can’t do it alone. We only reach about 4,000 to 5000 people a week. We rely on people coming to our website to click that Facebook button, click, you know, click that extra Twitter button at the bottom of each post. We need your listeners to turn that 4,000 to 5,000 people we reach each week into 100,000 each week. Then we can make a difference.
JOHN DEMASI: Well, you just keep it up. Keep up the good work.
SETH GROSSMAN: Meanwhile, Liberty and Prosperity meets every Saturday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 at Sal’s Cafe at Groveland Avenue and New Road in Somers Point. Normally, we have breakfast discussions with each other. Sometimes we have guest speakers. This morning, we’re having Bill Spadea, one of the four announced candidates for Governor in the Republican Primary Election next June will be speaking to us this morning. We previously had two of the other candidates –Edd Durr the Trucker and Jack Ciattarelli. We invited John Bramnick, the 4th Republican candidate. We are giving all four of the Republican candidates a chance to meet with us. And we also invited one of the Democratic candidates, Steve Sweeney. Even though he’s a Democrat, he has been taking on the NJEA Teacher’s Union. He has also addressed the problems of unsustainable state government debt and insolvent, underfunded state pension funds in ways that Republicans have not done. So hopefully, he’ll be speaking, with to us at some point.
So, we’re not, endorsing any particular candidate, but if anyone listening wants to meet Bill Spadea this morning, get to Sal’s Cafe in Somers Point by 9:30am. You’re welcome to join us for breakfast. There’s no admission. Just order your breakfast off the menu, tip the server, and take part in that discussion.
JOHN DEMASI: Well, one of these days, I’m going to be there.
SETH GROSSMAN: But not but not on a Saturday. As long as you have this program, your mission is to be right where you are!
But I want to be honest. We’ve had a lot of Republicans meet us at our Liberty and Prosperity breakfasts. But there’s a lot of resentment and a lot of anger against many of these Republicans. Yes, it’s probably true that Republicans are the lesser of two evils. They seem to do less harm than Democrats when they’re in office. But if Republicans know they can keep getting elected even though they do absolutely nothing to stop Democrats from destroying America, why should we reward them with our votes?
We’ve been having this discussion for year. I want to talk about a couple of issues that have come up during the past year where Republicans have been totally useless in standing up to Democrats. And I’m sure a lot of our members are going to be asking these hard questions of Bill Spadea because we did ask those questions of the other Republican candidates.
For example, have you heard any Republican say one word against the Democrat plan to lower the voting age to age 16? Did you hear Republicans go against all of those, increases in the gas tax? Under Republican Governor Chris Christie, New Jersey went from having the lowest gas tax in the country to having one of the highest?
You know, certain states have high property taxes. Florida has high property and sales taxes but no income tax. Some have high income or sales taxes and low property taxes. New Jersey alone has high property taxes, high sales taxes, and high income taxes! Did things get any better we had Republican Governor Christie Todd Whitman and Republican majorities in the Legislature during the 1990’s Or when when had Republican Governor Chris Christie?
Did any of those Republicans, stop solve our problems with insolvent state government pension plans? Unsustainable state, local and public-school debts? Republican Governor Chris Christie made these problems worse.
Did Republicans in state government do anything about our high electric bills? By the way, a few days ago, Governor Gavin Newsom of California called for a thorough investigation of his Board of Public Utilities because of the outrageous spike in electric rates in California. And ironically, what he was talking about is the same stuff making New Jersey electric bills so high.
In California, the Democratic Governor wants a complete explanation as to how much is being spent on unproductive solar and wind energy in California, how much is being spent on all those giveaway programs that we also have in New Jersey. You know, like the Energy Star or whatever it is where you have all your plumbing contractors advertising that they will give you free inspections, and weatherstripping and new equipment and appliances for free! But where do you think all the free stuff is coming from? Just look at all those extra fees and charges on your electric bill!
So it’s ironic that Gavin Newsom, a Democratic Governor from California is investigating this while Republicans in, New Jersey haven’t said a word about it.
And then we have, of course, we still have the Atlantic City takeover. Why is the state still running Atlantic City even though the litigation over the casino pilot proved it was the state government that put Atlantic City into that financial mess by, forcing the city to have 8 years of illegal deficits in violation of the local budget law, that piled up a $400,000,000 debt. So the state did that. So why why is the state saying that it it has the control of any state government? What what Republicans have said anything about that?
And then, of course, the republicans said nothing about brainwashing our kids in our schools and public libraries, nothing about illegal immigrants. Republicans have said nothing, about, you know, the homeless that are really killing Atlantic City other than, oh, let’s let’s have more programs. Let’s give them free houses. Let’s give them, you know, more this and more that without recognizing that certain people are not mentally able to live freely in a free society and that they need to be put in institutions like we used to do. Either in Ankura, if they’re mentally ill or in jail if they just can’t live without stealing from other people or begging from other people or, using, our boardwalk and and streets as their public bathrooms, you know. So so that’s what we have to do, and Republicans have done nothing more. And I could go on and on.
There’s this stupid war against lead. I had the water company knocking on my door, a couple days ago saying they want to inspect all the pipes in my office to make sure there’s no lead in there, and and this is costing a fortune. And who’s behind all this? So we have, all those issues, have you heard any Republicans say that we have to repeal that 2016 constitutional, amendment on bail reform? No. Do we have any Republicans talking about why we have our state income tax, which is supposed to give property tax relief to everybody? Why are 2 thirds of that money going to democrat run towns to reward, bad politicians?
So, the Republicans we sent to Trenton have been absolutely useless. I feel sorry for Bill Spadea today. I’m sure he’s going to hear some of that.
Finally, another big story that I don’t know if anyone else is reporting. A bunch of people in Egg Harbor Township, you know, woke up Monday morning and found out that the county roads depart department was taken away their, their Trump and Van Drew signs from in front of their houses. And they they want to know why that was going on, and so we posted that in our libertyandprosperity.com email newsletter. It’s also posted on our site.
The county officials said, well, we’re taking down all the signs because there’s a, 25 foot right-of-way along side of every county road. So even though you own the property, because the county has a, a right of way, we’re taking down all your political campaign signs. So, something is is not right there, and so we’re questioning why it’s happening, who’s responsible, what the rules are. Because, as a candidate, I lost an election because my opponent put illegal signs all over the place. And and because of that and because I wanted to comply with the law, I lost an election. And by the same token, that was in in Atlantic City when I was, running for council in 1991. But then when I ran for congress in 2018, I did the same thing and I put signs out out all over the place. And partly because of those signs, I won the Republican nomination to run for congress. But it’s important that we have rules, and everybody knows what the rules are and what and that they’re enforced. So I could understand why the county would take down signs if somebody else randomly puts up signs, along the side of the road, wherever they want to, that caused a litter problem, it caused a safety problem. But if somebody puts up a political sign in front of their own house, for the county to say we’re going to take down your sign because it’s in our right of way, why heck all the mailboxes in those neighborhoods are in the county, right away? Are they going to take down all the mailboxes? Yeah. Yeah. So, so so we have to have a discussion and come up with some rules that everybody can live with.
JOHN DEMASI: Speaking of campaign sings, I know you want to comment on this. The, Atlantic City race. I understand that one of the candidates had her signs destroyed by another candidate or so she said. Do you want to comment on that?
SETH GROSSMAN: I often say that what happens to America happens to Atlantic City first. And you’re having a very, very, ugly and bitter campaign in the 5th Ward there, California and Albany Avenues. It’s between, I hate to say it. You have a radical Muslim element, involved in that election that has been doing all sorts of fraud in the past. This is almost a continuation of what happened with Sharon Zappia, a Republican, narrowly losing in 2019. That was when the local mosque, had hundreds of people from out of town registered to vote illegally at that mosque and that won the election for this guy called Zia. A few months ago, Zia had to resign because he didn’t even live in Atlantic City. So his handpicked replacement, a guy named Huq, is now running in a special election to fill that vacancy.
And he is opposed by a coalition of, of almost everybody else in the neighborhood. You know, not just Republicans, but the Vietnamese community, the Hindu community, the Buddhist community. So this election is really about whether we are going to have a normal democracy based on issues, or a tribal democracy like you have in third-world countries.
There’s so much at stake, that’s why it’s getting as ugly as it is. So, I don’t want to call it comment about the details, but we’re going to see a lot of that. And that’s a product of this mass migration. We’re bringing in a lot of this conflict and bitterness from these Third World countries to Atlatnic City, Maria Laca, the Republican, is right in the middle of it. Oh. Whether she wants whether she wants to be or not, that she’s there. Well, we’ll see what happens there.
JOHN DEMASI: But that I read that, and I said, boy, that really getting ugly in Atlantic City.
SETH GROSSMAN: It is. Meanwhile, something else, on a positive note. As you know, Governor Murphy had his big conference for offshore ocean wind turbines last Tuesday where the governor came to speak. And you had people from around the world promoting this wind turbine scam. And of course, they have plenty of money to promote it because, $800 billion from Biden’s so-called Inflation Reduction Act is being spent by the federal government to promote this garbage. So this so-called Inflation Reduction Act borrowed $800 billion to increase the debt to cause inflation, and all the money is going to, to promote these useless wind turbines.
But a Margate realtor named Sherry Lilienfeld did an outstanding job of organizing a protest, which was so effective that the national news governor Murphy thought the national news would say Governor Murphy in New Jersey is leading the cause of, ocean wind turbines. That was supposed to be the national headline, but, Sherry Lilienfeld and those dozens of, protesters completely changed that narrative, and the headlines around the nation were, ocean wind industry meeting strong headwinds in Atlantic City. So, you know, your your volunteer efforts do help, and that had a major impact on the wind turbines abate, nationwide. So that’s something worth, knowing about. Where do you think that’s gonna go? Well, it’s it’s gonna I I think we all know that if if Trump wins, it’s gonna be the end of the ocean wind. And if, if Kamala Harris wins, it’s gonna be more of the same. Yeah. So that’s another part of the big stakes in this election, that we’ll we’ll find out next week. Well, we’ll see. Keep in our final space. And and just a couple of other issues, I guess it’s frustrating when you’re watching the, you know, the all these TV ads, and you see, you know, so many absolute lies, like, when when you say, well, we have inflation because, the big corporations are are gouging us. Yes. As as if, you know, spending $2,000,000,000,000 a year with no money to pay for it and just printing out dollars that are worth nothing has nothing to do that with with that. And it’s just, you know, playing on the ignorance of the people when you say, well, let’s make the big corporations pay their fair share. I mean, by definition, a big corporation that you you you have no choice. You use Comcast or Verizon. And if you say they’re making too much money, let’s make them, pay pay more taxes. Guess what they’re gonna do? They’re gonna raise the rates to pay more taxes. That’s right. And you don’t have any choice because if you want a telephone, if you want TV cable, only one place to go. Anyway, libertyandprosperity.com. Bill Spadia talking if it’s, you’re listening on Saturday morning right now, and and I’m late. So, listen in, or go to our liberty and prosperity.com website.
