Are Atlantic Cape Community College “Focus Group Meetings” Really Segregated By Race? – Liberty and Prosperity

Our Community College Cancels Segregated Employee Meetings. ‘It Is Still Possible To Challenge Woke Excesses In Quiet And Polite Ways’. – Liberty and Prosperity

January 26, 2023:  Dr. Barbara Gaba, President of Atlantic Cape Community College Responds To Our Disclosures With This Message To All Faculty And Staff:

“Atlantic Cape Community College is an Achieving the Dream (ATD) network college, whose work focuses on closing equity gaps. Atlantic Cape has been acknowledged by ATD with the designation of Leader College for the exemplary work in closing the equity gaps with academic support. However, we realize our work has just begun. The ATD coaches are visiting the campus this week to facilitate discussions on student success and equity. ATD encourages colleges to
examine, understand, and address student needs by centering equity within their local context.
“Atlantic Cape administered the Higher Education Data Sharing Consortium (HEDS) Diversity and Equity Campus Climate Survey which met the requirement of the Office of the Secretary of Higher Education (OSHE) that colleges conduct a
climate survey. The disaggregation of findings by race presented in the survey results indicated that more clarification was needed to understand the concerns and challenges faced by racially diverse populations. The next step is having the ATD Coaches assist the college in developing a professional development action plan.

“Over the next two days, ATD Coaches will be meeting with the President’s Cabinet, Student Services, Faculty, and the college’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committees to create specific professional development activities that support the college’s Equity Plan.
“Upon reflection, we also recognize that our intentions to offer a safe space for our employees of color, based on the survey results, may have been misunderstood. We will continue to assess how we can collect additional feedback in the appropriate settings.
“Atlantic Cape is committed to significantly increasing student access and success to address the racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic disparities in college attainment. We are proud to serve our community and continue to foster partnerships to design pathways to education and training. We are committed to our students, our employees, our communities, and
our shared success.  Sincerely, Dr. Barbara Gaba, President
