Looks More Like Tourists Visiting Capitol. Than A Mob “Storming” It.

Click image above or link below for video.  It seems to show polite, orderly, tourists visiting the Capitol, rather than an angry mob storming it.  Notice how two officers on stand on each side and seem to greet the visitors as they walk in.  One appears to be the woman who was later shot to death on the balcony of the public rotunda area upstairs.  A similar video shows the officers actually taking down a barrier outside, and opening the wooden outside doors to let the crowd inside the building.

From the above photo, it appears that anywhere from 30,000 to 100,000 Trump supporters gathered near the Washington Monument last Wednesday.  Only a small fraction of them (and others who were no friends of MAGA) went to the Capitol building.  President Trump asked his supporters to come to Washington to persuade members of Congress not to certify the votes of Presidential Electors giving Democratic opponent Joe Biden a majority.  Trump claimed many of Biden’s votes in key swing states were fraudulent.  The First Amendment of the U.S. Constitution guarantees “the right of the people peaceably to assemble and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances”.

The Twelfth Amendment of the U.S. Constitution does not provide for Congress to certify the votes of Presidential Electors in Washington.  That is done according to the laws of each of the 50 states in each state capital.  The Twelfth Amendment simply states that members of both houses of Congress are to be present when the Senate President, normally the Vice-President, “opens all the certificates” of the Electors,  and that “the votes shall then be counted”.
