On September 4, 1804, Richard Somers of Somers Point, NJ, along with 12 others on the “Fireship Intrepid”, died in America’s first war against those who claimed the Koran gave them the right and duty to attack, rob, and enslave ‘kaffirs’ (those who did not believe in the Prophet).
