SETH GROSSMAN: I’m calling on behalf of LibertyAndProsperity.com. You can read all the details and all the stuff I leave out by going to our website. I also hope that everyone listening also subscribes to our weekly email updates, and also shows up at our breakfast meetings every Saturday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 at Sal’s Cafe by New Road and Groveland Avenue in Somers Point.
But this is one of those days where I hadn’t had a chance to talk to the group since the election. So I may get there, and and people might say, yep. We love what you said to John DiMasi, this morning. But they may also say, why the heck did you say this or that. I have no idea. But here’s my take on the election.
I don’t think that we, we won our country back last Tuesday. I think we got a stay of execution. I think we now have to work real hard for the next four years to get our country back, for a whole lot of reasons.
And we’ve been here before. Nixon got elected president in ’68, because people were fed up with Lyndon Johnson and his “Great Society” and all those Big Government programs and all the new mass immigration. Nixon never got rid of any of the big Lyndon Johnson new welfare programs. In fact, he kept running the big deficits, got us off the gold standard, so the dollar was backed by nothing, propped up Communist China, and helped create a lot of the mess that we still have today. Same thing with both Bushes. We elected the first Bush to continue what Reagan started, but he raised taxes and spending instead. We elected the second Bush with a Republic Congress to bring back Reagan’s policies and undue what Bill Clinton had done. But the second Bush did more borrowing, more spending, more the same. In New Jersey, Republicans, Tom Kane, Christie Todd Whitman, Chris Christie, they they said, you know, “Florio Free in ’93!” and “Get Rid of Corzine”, but both of them made things even worse. Higher taxes, more debt, bigger government, more regulations. So when Republicans win, it doesn’t mean that we roll back what the Democrats did. Yes, Republicans do less damage than Democrats when they get in, but they never undo the damage that Democrats did before. To get our country back, we can’t just stop doing what Biden is doing. We need to roll back what Biden and Obama did before.
Because if we don’t, America’s 60-year decline will continue. We must admit that Trump did not stop that decline during his first term. Trump never built The Wall. He didn’t deport the illegals who came in under Bush and Obama.
That’s why Ann Coulter turned against Trump. In 2015, Ann Coulter wrote Adios America to explain how mass legal and illegal immigration was transforming and destroying America. In 2016 Ann Coulter wrote another book In Trump We Trust. Ann Coulter helped Trump get elected in 2016.
But then she wrote that Trump betrayed us on his most important promise. that helped get Trump elected. That’s why she wrote her book Adios America. She said Trump betrayed us.
And of course, Trump supporters said, well, Ann Coulter is just a nut. Who cares about her?
And.this is one of the reasons why I’m more comfortable as to, Trump keeping his promises, in the 2nd term. Because this time he doesn’t have Ann Coulter with him. He has Elon Musk with him. And if Trump breaks his promises to Elon Musk, there is no way Trump will get away with it. Elon Musk is one of the richest men in the world and he controls Twitter and a whole lot of media.
So I think that Elon Musk is going to hold Trump a lot more to his promises than, say, Ann Coulter and some of the other Trump people in the first term.
However, we have to understand what we have to understand what we are up again. You looked at that Election Map and said, look at all that red, and look how little of that map was blue. No. It wasn’t that red. It was actually much closer. When you say landslide, I mean, this was not another Lyndon Johnson, Barry Goldwater 1964 landslide. It was not a Ronald Reagan Mondale landslide like in 1984.
Trump, and Republicans still lost California, biggest state in America, by 2,000,000 votes. We lost the whole West Coast, Oregon, and Washington, almost 2 to 1. We lost Illinois, New York, Massachusetts, and all of New England by big margins.
Sure. It was a comfortable victory, but not a landslide.
You have to remember that when you said you were on the ledge a few times, it wasn’t you. There were times during the last 4 months that the people WERE buying what Kamala Harris was saying, and they WERE mad at what Trump was saying. The polls were going up and down. The betting markets were going up and down,. Trump’s Truth Social stock, or DJT: Did you look that up? It was down to $13 a share in last September,.Then it went up to $52 a share in October. And then after the Madison Square Garden rally, it plunged to $31. So it it’s it’s not like Trump was going to win.the whole time. It reminds me of a football game. Trump starts off the first quarter 2 or 3 touchdowns ahead. Then he has a fumble, then he has an interception, then he has a bunch of penalties. And now Trump’s behind going into halftime. And then Trump comes up again. And then more fumbles, more, interceptions, you know, more penalties. And now he’s down in the fourth quarter. But he then scores, like, 2 touchdowns in in the in the in the last 5 minutes. So it was a back and forth thing, where the the game could have been lost.
And, and and it’s also, not just that that the, that the quarterback was the star. I mean, the offensive line that Trump had was brilliant. Because every time, you know, Trump would make a mistake, he had the offensive line to protect the quarterback, defense to push back the Democrats. So it’s really not just Trump, it was the whole, team that did it. And I think it’s very important for the team to remind Trump of that from time to time. That it wasn’t his brilliance alone that won that everybody went to bat for him. And I also think I it’s important that the democrats fumbled a whole lot. It was like, you know, when you play the worst team in the NFL and and and you win by a touchdown or 2, you know, that you can’t take too much comfort in that.
You know, Democrats probably could have won if they made Josh Shapiro their candidate for Vice-President. Everyone knew that Shapiro was far more qualified than Walz. By not picking Shapiro, Democrats showed the whole country that the they had become so Because not only did was he so pro-socialist and so pro-Muslim they couldn’t even seriously consider a Jew for Vice President, and I think that turned off a lot of people, not just Jews.
JOHN DEMASI: Yeah. I I thought so too. I thought so that that that move would have been the one to make, Because Shapiro would have guaranteed Pennsylvania for Harris. You’re you’re right.
SETH GROSSMAN: I saw that effect because I was like you. I was, on the ledge quite a few times during the past four months, as you as you heard. But on Election Day, I was at synagogue, and I actually saw a, a friend of mine who hates Republicans. For years, he me from speaking to many Jewish groups because of my conservative views. I’m not going to mention his name, but he’s a well-known Jewish Community leader. As we’re coming out of the synagogue, he tells me “I can’t believe I’m voting for Trump. I’m holding my nose and voting for Trump”. That was when I realized that a lot of Jews were turning away from the Democrats and that many others were turning as well. So, anyway, that’s what got us here.
But now it’s important to look at the future. Where do we go from here? Well, we have to do what, what Ron DeSantis did in Florida. Because remember, Ron DeSantis squeaked through in 2018. Obama carried Florida twice. Before that, Florida was a swing state. It was a state with hanging chads. Remember Bush Gore was decided by less than a 1,000 votes, the whole state? Now Florida is solidly red. You know, 58% Republican, you know, very almost 2 to 1 Republicans over Democrats. How do we make that transition in the rest of the country?
And I think that the key of what Republicans have to do comes down to immigration, education, and smart conversations about abortion.
On immigration, Republicans can’t win elections if the Democrats keep importing illegal voters who eventually become citizens and vote legally or illegally. And it’s not just building a wall. It’s not just securing the border. It’s a matter of deporting people who are illegally here. Because as long as people know that once I get to America, I will never ever ever be deported. You could have a wall, you could have fences, you could have police, you could have all sorts of stuff. But if people don’t get through the first time, they’ll try, they’ll try, they’ll try to get in, and and they’ll be paying off the cartels and the gangsters and the coyotes to get them in. And the only way you’re gonna stop illegal immigration is when the coyotes and the gangsters start losing money because the people who they’re counting on all these monthly payments of people who they got into America, if they get deported the payments stop, the money dries up, and the illegal immigration stops. So that’s gonna be absolutely key and we’ve talked about this before. It’s gonna be ugly. You’re gonna see TV pictures of families and crying women and crying children and they’ll say well these aren’t criminals why are you getting rid of them? Well because we have 8,000,000,000 people in the world because every American lives better than 80% of those 8,000,000,000 people and so you have about 5 to 6,000,000,000 people want to come to America. And if they all come to America, we it doesn’t make give them a better life, it means we ruin our lives and the lives of our children. So for the sake of our children we have to limit immigration to maybe a couple 100000 a year. Not whether you’re good, not whether you’re bad, but we could only have it looks like we’re a lifeboat. We could only have 200,000 people a year and if you don’t fit in that quota, if you don’t follow law, you have to leave. And so, one of the things that we’re calling for if you saw our liberty and prosperity, email, we need a systematic deportation of every illegal foreigner in this country whether or not they committed crimes. And that’s gonna take, law enforcement, it’s gonna take schools, hospitals, I mean everybody who’s here illegally they need food, they need handouts from the government, they need housing, they need food, they need medicine, medical care. We could identify them. Do we have this stomach to say, okay, you’re here illegally, you’ve got to go. If we find out, oh, you’re here illegally, but Joe Biden gave you a, a parole, an asylum parole. Well, that asylum parole had no evidence to back it up. We’re revoking that asylum parole and now you’re illegal and now you have to go. So if we don’t do that, then we’re gonna find out that these illegal 30,000,000 illegal immigrants, they’re going to have children, they’re gonna become citizens, they’re gonna be voting legally or illegally, they’re gonna get driver’s license. So we we have to already think about the next election even though Trump has not yet got sworn in. So so it’s a daunting task, but we gotta prepare for it now.
JOHN DEMASI: Do you think it’s gonna happen?
SETH GROSSMAN: It could go either way, but I think that if if most Americans say, oh, I voted for Trump. It’s all done. I’m going home. I’m going back to sleep. I’m going to sit in my couch and watch Fox News. If that happens, we’re going to lose our country. It’s almost like the work has to begin now and there’s got to be some urgency. So immigration enforcement is probably the most important issue.
However, public schools is another important issue. I don’t know if you noticed, but the NJEA, the New Jersey Teachers Union, had its yearly meeting in Atlantic City. Yes. I know you want to talk about this. And so, they’ve had to shut down every public school in New Jersey so the teachers could have their convention in Atlantic City. Yeah. Now why did they do that? I mean, it’s not like the teachers don’t get the summer off. Like, they don’t get plenty of vacation. They have to close the the schools. So but they’re really showing their power. You have 200,000 teachers and other public school employees in New Jersey. We have a state law that forces them forces them. You’ll you get fired if you don’t join, 2 teachers unions. The NJEA and the AFT. And you have to pay $1,000 each year as dues for these 2 unions and most of that you that money goes for politics to either elect politicians, bribe politicians, or bully politicians all over America. Now here’s my arithmetic question. If you have 200,000, teachers and public school employees in New Jersey and they’re all forced to pay $1,000 every year for dues for their political flush fund, What is the size of that political flush fund, every year? How much is $200,000, how much is 200,000 members times a $1,000? Well, it’s $200,000,000. Wow. They are the most powerful political force in America with nobody even close. And and and what are these unions doing? They’re breaking the backs of the taxpayers. Most of your real estate taxes go for our public schools. And if you went to the, this convention in Atlantic City and and saw what they were promoting, you’ll see that they want to bring drag queen shows to every elementary school. The, the guest speaker by the way was Pete Buttigieg’s husband who’s, known for promoting his LBGTQIA plus agenda to screw up kids and destroy families. And what else is our teachers unions doing? They’re cranking out generation after generation of functional illiterate. You look at the test scores and you have, what is it maybe 80% of high school graduates in our larger cities can’t do read a simple newspaper, can’t read a book, can’t do simple arithmetic. But the one thing they do know, they know that the fake communist history, they hate America, hate Israel, political agendas, they hate Jews. I mean, it’s all bad, and and we need Republicans. We have to stop that. We have to take them on.
Smart Conversations On Abortion is the final issue we need to deal with. If only women voted, Kamela would have won by a landslide. It was the men, especially young men, who turned out for Trump and overcame all the women who voted against him. But we have to admit that the abortion issue is killing Republicans and hurting Republicans in every single election. Republicans need to stand up and speak out on that issue. We need to bring out three basic facts that they don’t bring out.
First, we have to make it clear that abortion is not a women’s issue. Democrats keep saying that the pro-life movement is a bunch of toxic men who want to dominate and control women. However, the most active anti-abortion people are women. The anti-abortion movement is a woman’s movement led mostly by women who had abortions and who regretted it. So what do we do? We’ve got to have republicans too many republicans they say, well, I’m just not gonna say anything about abortion. I’m afraid to talk about it. But if you’re afraid to talk about it, then the Democrats are going to put the spotlight on people taking the most extreme positions on abortion and tag every Republican as an extremist. That’s why Republicans lost the votes of so many women who agree with Republicans on every other issue and who normally would vote Republican.
Second, we have to explain why abortion is a complicated issue, and why we should let each state decide what is best on that issue.
We believe in the light the rights of each woman to decide what is best or her. But we also have to recognize that at some point, there is an unborn baby that also has rights. Everybody agrees it is wrong to kill a one week old baby. And I’m sure most people agree it is wrong to kill a baby one week before birth.
At what point in a pregnancy does a baby also have a right to live? It’s a difficult and complicated issue. And because of that, it should be decided by people on a state-by-state basis and where there are open discussions and where good people disagree, and where compromises need to be made.
The best way to protect unborn babies is to talk about what most Americans agree on. And that means persuasion. I think most Americans would agree that women should see an ultrasound of the baby before they have an abortion. I think they would agree that doctors should not lose their licenses if they think it is wrong to do an abortion where the women’s life is not at risk. I think they would agree that people who think abortion is wrong should not be forced to pay taxes or insurance to pay for abortion. I think most Americans should agree that taxpayers should not be forced to pay for political groups like Planned Parenthood that promote and glorify abortions.
So if we talk about persuasion and volunteer action, to fight abortion instead of threatening to lock people up. I think Republicans would win a lot of support from women that we didn’t get this time.
So the message of LibertyAndProsperity right now is, yes, the election’s over. Now the real work begins.
