He urged listeners to appreciate the exceptional greatness of America and to remember the hard work, discipline and sacrifice that created it. He also urged them to teach this to our children and grandchildren. Second Image: Local Vietnam Veteran Bo Bobon spoke of his combat experience, and of the good men who fought with him. Many of them were killed or crippled. Bobon received three Purple Hearts. This year’s Memorial Day ceremony was held indoors because of predicted rain.
Memorial Day was created to remember those who died in our wars. We honor our veterans in November. For many years, Memorial Day (also Decoration Day) was observed on May 30.
We observe Memorial Day this Monday. It was created to remember the young Americans who died in our wars. A lot of people mistakenly believe we honor our veterans on this day. However, we do that on Veteran’s Day, November 11. Memorial Day was created those who killed or who died during our wars. In fact, as a Boomer growing up in the 1950s, I knew the holiday as Decoration Day. That was the day my parents, my grandparents, and their friends put flags and flowers on the graves of their friends and relatives who had been killed in Korea and the two World Wars. That is why Memorial Day was created.
Memorial Day was first observed on May 30 to remember the 350,000 young Americans who died in the Civil War to preserve our nation and free Blacks from slavery.

In particular, Memorial Day was first established to remember the 350,000 young American men who died during the Civil War to preserve our nation and end slavery. It is very important to emphasize that because the narrative is being changed to erase that fact. In 2021, President Joe Biden and Democrats in Congress pushed through a new law making Juneteenth, that is June 19th a new federal holiday to celebrate black slaves in Texas being set free.
The narrative of that holiday is that President Lincoln issued his Emancipation Proclamation to free the slaves in 1862, but Blacks in Texas were kept as slaves until 1866, some three years later! So they made a local state holiday into a national holiday into a new national holiday, and another paid day off for government employees.
The new “Juneteenth” federal holiday on June 19 was cleverly designed to hide the message of Memorial Day.
This narrative, of course forgets to mention why it took three extra years for Black slaves in Texas to be freed. That was because we had Democrats who were slave owners in the southern states who hated Republicans like Abraham Lincoln and who refused to free their slaves. They organized armies and fought a Civil War to break up the United States so they could keep Black people as slaves. It took millions of mostly white Americans to fight them for those three extra years to destroy their armies and free Blacks from slavery. And hundreds of thousands of them died.
If Democrats and woke leftists cared about the truth, they would tell this story during Memorial Day. They would honor those mostly hundreds of thousands of mostly white Americans who fought and died for three more years to free all of the Blacks in America, including those Blacks in Texas. They would not establish a new Juneteenth holiday on June 19 to avoid telling this story. They would instead recognize and teach the sacrifices made by those mostly white Americans on Memorial Day.
In 1968, Lyndon Johnson and Ted Kennedy Democrats stripped most of our national holidays of their meaning. They changed them into meaningless paid, three-day weekends for government employees.
By the way, why are we observing Memorial this Monday, May 25, instead of the tradition Memorial Day of May 30? That’s another long story going back to the 1960a, when Democrats led by Lyndon Johnson and Ted Kennedy first decided to destroy America brick by brick.
It began with the Great Society of 1965 that created massive welfare programs to create a massive number of dependent voters. And government employees with big salaries, pensions and benefits to give money to those dependent voters. In that same year, those Democrats completely changed our immigration laws. They increased the number of legal immigrants coming to America by 400%–from 100,000 per year to 400,000 per year. And they changed the quota system so that most of those new immigrants came from poor and violent countries where most people hated America, but loved our welfare programs.
Then the third thing they did in 1968 was to change our national holidays. They changed Washington’s Birthday from his birthday of February 22 to the third Monday in February. They stopped celebrating Abraham Lincoln’s Birthday on his actual birthday of February 12. They stopped celebrating Columbus Day on October 12, the day he first landed in America. They invented the fake holiday of Kwanzaa, so that Black Americans would no longer celebrate Christmas together with whites in December. And they changed Memorial Day from May 30 to the last Monday in May.
All of this was cleverly designed to stop using our national holidays to recognize and teach important people and events in American history. They wanted Americans to forget them. They instead wanted to use our national holidays to reward government employees with paid three-day weekends and to promote their new anti-American narratives.
There are two other holidays this weekend. Shavuot, the Jewish Pentecost celebrates the Ten Commandments. The Christian Pentecost recalls when the Disciples came out of hiding and taught the Gospel in every language.
There also two other important holidays being observed this weekend. The Jewish holiday of Shavuot or Pentecost is being observed today and yesterday. Shavuot is the Hebrew word for “seven” and “week.” It celebrates a holiday that takes place seven weeks and one day after Passover. It is also called “Pentecost” because Pentecost is the Greek word for fifty. Christians also have a Pentecost holiday 50 days after Easter. The Christian holiday of Pentecost, also called Whitsunday is tomorrow.

The Jewish Pentecost celebrates the day the freed Hebrew slaves received the Torah or the Law from God at Mount Sinai, starting with the Ten Commandments. The highlight of the Jewish synagogue service for Shavuot or Pentecost is where the entire congregation rises and hears the reading of the Ten Commandments:
1. “I am the Lord, your God, Who took you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage. You shall not have the gods of others in My presence.
2. You shall not make for yourself a graven image or any likeness which is in the heavens above, which is on the earth below, or which is in the water beneath the earth. You shall neither prostrate yourself before them nor worship them, for I, the Lord, your God, am a zealous God, Who visits the iniquity of the fathers upon the sons, upon the third and the fourth generation of those who hate Me, and [I] perform loving kindness to thousands [of generations], to those who love Me and to those who keep My commandments.
3. You shall not take the name of the Lord, your God, in vain, for the Lord will not hold blameless anyone who takes His name in vain.
4. Remember the Sabbath day to sanctify it. Six days may you work and perform all your labor, but the seventh day is a Sabbath to the Lord, your God; you shall perform no labor, neither you, your son, your daughter, your manservant, your maidservant, your beast, nor your stranger who is in your cities. For [in] six days the Lord made the heaven and the earth, the sea and all that is in them, and He rested on the seventh day. Therefore, the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and sanctified it.
5. Honor your father and your mother, in order that your days be lengthened on the land that the Lord, your God, is giving you.
6. You shall not murder.
7. You shall not commit adultery.
8. You shall not steal.
9. You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.
10. You shall not covet your neighbor’s house. You shall not covet your neighbor’s wife, his manservant, his maidservant, his ox, his donkey, or whatever belongs to your neighbor.”

The Christian Pentecost is celebrated Sunday tomorrow, 50 days after Easter. It celebrates when the disciples of Jesus were no longer afraid, and came out of hiding. They preached to Jewish pilgrims who came to Jerusalem from all over the world to celebrate the Jewish Pentecost holiday. During that time, the disciples of Jesus, all from the small towns and villages of Galilee, were miraculously able to preach the gospel in Latin, Greek, Persian, and Egyptian…
