Spirit Airlines and the Ripple Effect on Travel. Seth Grossman highlights the recent loss of Spirit Airlines at Atlantic City Airport. He recalls how the airport was once a beehive of activity at 7am. However, it was a deserted “bus terminal” when he left for Florida last Tuesday.
For instance, a trip to Florida that previously resembled a short bus ride to New York now demands a multi-leg journey lasting seven to eight hours. This itinerary requires taking a bus to Philadelphia International Airport and navigating multiple terminal transfers.
Criticism of Government Intervention
Grossman blames federal interference—specifically the Biden administration and Elizabeth Warren blocking the JetBlue-Spirit merger—for Spirit’s exit and the resulting lack of consumer choice. Citing historical perspectives from New Jersey’s 1676 founding and thinkers like John Locke, he argues that government should remain limited to protecting people and property rather than managing industries or entertainment venues like the Kennedy Center.
Political Strategy and “Asymmetrical Warfare” Grossman identifies what he calls left-wing “asymmetrical warfare” tactics in Newark and Minneapolis. He claims protesters deliberately provoke immigration enforcement officers to trigger an overreaction for media coverage. He advises conservatives to counter this by quietly documenting identities to make arrests later, rather than engaging in public confrontations.
Liberty and Prosperity Updates
Grossman promotes updates from his organization, including:
-
A 7-point plan to rescue Stockton University and lower tuition to $6,000 per year.
-
Criticism of Atlantic City’s “free” airshow due to hidden hotel and restaurant surcharges.
-
An upcoming $35 fundraising pancake breakfast on June 13th to support their scholarship program.
EDITED TEXT OF SETH GROSSMAN INTERVIEW:
JOHN DEMASI: We’re going to get Seth Grossman in a little earlier today on the show. First, are you missing Spirit Airlines?
SETH GROSSMAN: Absolutely! In fact, I posted a lot of stuff on Facebook about my adventure. As you know, I left to visit one of my daughters and some grandkids near West Palm Beach, Florida, last Tuesday morning. Normally, the Atlantic City Airport at seven – in the morning was a beehive – of activity. People were catching flights to Tampa, Fort Meyers, Orlando, West Palm Beach, Fort Lauderdale. But at 7AM last Tuesday, I was the only person walking from the parking lot to the terminal. I was the only person in the terminal!
The whole place was deserted! Basically, it was a glorified bus terminal. The only outgoing flights were four buses to – Philadelphia – and one Breeze flight to Charleston, South Carolina.
Florida. – So, – I did post that and what used to – be, – you know, going to West Palm Beach and – visiting my, grandkids here used to be like – taking a bus to New York. You know, – you you check-in and, two and a half – hours later, you’re you’re where you’re gonna be – and you have a full day ahead of – you here. It’s a full day adventure. – Yeah, you have Breeze, – doesn’t start direct flights until – till I believe December. – You have Allegiance has occasional flights on occasional – days. – I ended up taking American Airlines where you – take the bus to Philadelphia, and it becomes – a seven or eight hour, – you know, day. So you just have to, – add a day. And and one of the – interesting things – on Facebook, – I I had an account on Facebook for – years – until I got knocked down for posting pro – Trump views, in 2017. – I used to reach 50 to a 100,000 – people, – a – week, and then they knocked me down to – a thousand, and they called it shadow banning. – And the same thing happened on Twitter. But – what what we remarkable, – when I started posting my adventures with, – Facebook, – sudden, suddenly I had a 138,000 – people – were following my adventures. – So who knows? The the silver lining of – my, – spirit adventures, I could have possibly broken the – algorithm on Facebook – and and restored the the reach I had – before. So, it was just an interesting experience. – So so what happened was you you bus – to from Atlantic City Airport – to Philadelphia International. Is that what happens? – Right. And the bus takes you past airport – security and you go to, – Terminal F. Then you have to take a – bus from Terminal F to Terminal C, then – you have to wait about an hour and – a half, and then you take a flight – to Fort Lauderdale. – And then if you wanna come up to – the West Palm Beach area, they happen to – take me to Fort Lauderdale during rush hour. – So I had to take the bus to – the train and then the train to come – back up to West Palm and then take, – a Lyft or an Uber, yeah, to your – final destination. So it became a a it – was like going to Europe. – I was just gonna say you could have – been in Europe both for all this time. – I I couldn’t visit my brother in Cadiz, – Spain for the time I spent traveling. But, – you know, that’s that’s the so called progress. – And then of course I had to be – political about it and I said gee I’m – so glad – that President Biden and Elizabeth Warren. – Uh-uh had the – the Justice Department – blocked the merger between – uh-uh JetBlue and Spirit – which which would have been, you know, both – companies were struggling, but they both had assets – that the other one needed. But to say, – well, we’re gonna protect the the – consumer by letting, Spirit go out of business. – Well, I’m a consumer, and I don’t think – the government helped me. So that was a – real lesson in, – you know, when the government you know, we – we talk about, – what capitalism is. And, of course, capitalism is – a fake word invented by communist – to describe when people are free to to – make their own decisions. – And and whether – JetBlue – should have merged with, with Spirit, – that was a decision for the creditors – and for the shareholders – of JetBlue – and for Spirit to decide. The government had – no business injecting itself into that situation, – and and that’s what we have to get – back to. You know, letting government do what – it’s supposed to do. I agree. No. I – agree. Yeah. – And and Yeah. Now now we have now – we have really nothing because you mentioned Breeze – and Allegiant. I mean, there’s, like, two days – a week or through one day a week, – and it’s it’s it’s not good. No. It’s – not good. And and it’s all because the – government was trying to fix things. – So all we know is when the government – fixed the insurance problem, we can’t afford insurance. – When the government fixed the housing problem, we – can’t afford housing. When the government fixed the – college problem, we can’t afford college. – You know, so when the government always does – stuff that, – it has no business doing. And ironically, – in that book sixteen seventy six project, – when the, Quakers created New Jersey back in – 1676, – one of the things they did, they checked – with these, government philosophers like John Locke – and Algernon Sydney. And what they said is – government should only protect people, protect property, do – very limited things. Because when you wanna have – the government do whatever you wanted to do, – it you know, you could net there’s never – enough money. It always does things. And when – you have politicians making these decisions, – instead of the people who are paying for – it and using for it, you get bad – decisions. And I just have to notice at – the top of the hour, – the top of the news was talking about – how congress and president Trump is deciding – how to run the Kennedy Center for the – Performing Arts, – and whether it should be named Trump or – whether it should be named Kennedy. – But the whole idea is you read the – constitution, – why the heck is the federal government, which – is supposed to provide national defense and coin – the money and deal with national problems? – Why are we tying up congress figuring out – how to run an entertainment center? It’s ridiculous, – but that has become normal. – Yeah. That’s – unfortunately, – it has become normal. You’re right. – Anyway, I’ve, you got me started on Spirit. – I forgot to mention that, yes, I’m here – to to to speak in the per the – organization that’s writing the checks – allowing me to have this conversation – is libertyandprosperity.com, – and I urge everybody to go to the – website. A lot of new stuff is posted – there. – We sent out, an email with a lot – of new information. – So the the site is libertyandprosperity.com. – If you have trouble signing up for the – free email updates, – just, email us at info,info,@libertyandprosperity.com. – If you want us to keep writing checks – to the John DiMasi program, we need the – money. – Please hit the donate tab at the top – or send a check to libertyandprosperity.com. – And of course, we always have breakfast discussions – whether I’m there or not. – Sometimes people say they’re they’re run much better – when I’m not there because people can get – a word in edgewise. – That’s from 09:30 to 10:30 at Sal’s Coal – Fired Pizza – at Route 9 in Grovewood Avenue in Somers – Point. So, please do that. A lot of – new stuff on that website. – Well, – you know, you you’re never at a loss – for words, but you’re right. When you’re not – there, people do do – speak a little more. – Yeah. – Yeah. And just just a couple of things – to observe. Course, today is May 30, which – we boomers growing up knew this was when – Memorial Day was supposed to happen. It was – also called decoration day because that was a – day, you know, that our parents and grandparents – would deck puts flags and wreaths on the – graves of their friends and family who had – died in America’s wars. – And, of course, that was the traditional holiday – that began after the civil war, – when really, – black Americans freed from slavery, – began the the holiday by decorating the graves – of, the mass graves of the union soldiers – who had died to free the slaves. – And that’s how that tradition started – and and you’ll see how one of the – reasons why they changed our traditional holidays – while we don’t celebrate – Washington’s birthday on his, on his birthday of – February 22. We don’t celebrate Lincoln’s birthday on – February, twelfth. – You know, we just have these meaningless three – day weekends for government employees – and, you know, and that was all by – design. – So that the people who hate America could, – you know, create their own holidays and their – own traditions and forget the holidays that made – America great. – So, – we talked about, – that last week. – Also that’s important is this coming Tuesday is – primary election day. – But, of course, we no longer have election – day. That that this Tuesday is the last – day – until 08:00 at night to vote at your – regular polling place. – If you wanna vote today or tomorrow, – there are about seven or eight early voting – locations in each county, and you could find – out where they are online. – I I believe there till I actually, I – forget, – which days they are on Saturday and and – Sunday. – But if you cannot vote on Tuesday, election – day, between six in the morning and 08:00 – at night, – If you can’t do early voting – Saturday or Sunday, you can always go to – your county clerk. You can go to Mays – Landing, – for the Atlanta county clerk. You can go – to Cape May Courthouse for the Cape May – County Clerk. You could go to Palms River, – right up until 03:00 on Monday, – to pick up a paper ballot there. So – there are three ways to vote in the – primary election. – And, it always amazes me how we have – so many Americans who say, oh, those – those Iranians that they’re not getting themselves killed – to give themselves a better government. And we – have Americans who say, gee, I I don’t – feel like voting in June. I’ll vote in – November. That’s enough. I don’t wanna waste my – time voting in June. When in June is – when you actually pick – the choices of who runs in November. – So there’s a, an important election on, Tuesday – on the Republican side. Of course, – which of four Republican candidates – will run for US Senate against Cory Booker. – On the Democrat side, you have four Democrats – competing as which Democrat is gonna run against – Jeff Andrew, – for Congress in, – in November. – And, the wild card out there for congress – is, you know, the democrats, – you know, really have no chance of beating – Jeff Van Drew, – the republican as the district stands right now. – But if they, the Democrats in the New – Jersey legislature – change the boundaries – of the legislative districts, – they could conceivably take the the heavily Republican – areas – of Concord and Little Red Harbor Township, Beach – Haven. They could move those into Camden County, – and they could replace those districts with, heavily – Camden County districts, – to make, – you know, the the the what’s called the – 1st Congressional District with, – with Norcross with Don Norcross. – He usually wins by 60% democrat to 40% – republican. – So if they give him some republican votes, – he could still win 55 to 45 – but Jeff Andrew would be short they they – may play with that district so nothing is – certain and it’s very important – for, people who support Jeff Andrew to overwhelmingly, – go out and vote in the primary election – to show that even if they change the – district, – the Democrats might outsmart themselves – and actually put the, – you know, the the Don Norcross’s seat into – play. So it’s very tricky. And when you – do the redistricting – and they make it sound like you create – more Republican districts and you make more Democrat – districts, – yeah, you’re – creating more districts for your party, – but you’re making the margin of victory narrower – in all of your districts. – And if, if, you have a popular candidate – like a Republican that you have in, in – Los Angeles who changes the game, – you could you could really change the dynamics – there. So it’s that’s worth mentioning, I think. – Well, – you certainly have a lot of things to – mention. That’s for sure. – But but whatever it’s important to vote. And – by the way, I you know, the the – four Republicans, I’m not taking sides, but I – thought it was very significant – that I had a chance meeting – with, one of the four Republican candidates, Rich – Taboor. – And he’s he’s like the the black guy, – you know, the state trooper running. – And I bumped into him. I gave my, – my 1676, – project history book. – And then I went and I started doing – other things. I see he’s flipping through the – book, and then I went to do something – else. And then, – when he got out of his meeting, he – came looking for me and want me to – sign sign the book, which I did. – So I don’t know, that much about Richard – Tavor other than he likes history and he – read the sixteen seventy six history book project, – which I think is important that a lot – of people if you really wanna know if – you wanna make make if you wanna make – America great again, – you have to know what made America great – before. – And besides teaching history, – it really shows how New Jersey and America – used to work. – And there’s absolutely no reason why we can’t – start doing those things again. And I, – you know, I can’t talk about on the – radio because you just can’t give enough information – swapping stories around the campfire. There’s detailed information. – And if, your listeners have not gotten the – book yet, – contact, – us at info@libertyandprosperity.com – or buy the book at Amazon. Pay $5 – more and get it from amazon.com. – Either way, it’s it’s something important to read. – Yes. A a good book too, by the – way. – Yes. – Thank you. And just, I see, we’re running – out of time. Just a couple points to – to talk about. – What’s happening in Newark right now Jeez. – Is a typical – of how the left is destroying America and – defeating America – and how the left is and and the – the, – Islamic, – you know, extremist there. You know, how they’re – damaging Israel as well. It’s it’s called asymmetrical – warfare. – It’s it’s designed, you know, with the Saul – Alinsky tactics that we talk about, where the – most important thing you do, your most important – weapon – is, if you wanna destroy a more powerful – enemy, – you force the enemy to do stupid things. – And so, – what the Israel what have what Hamas did – to the Israelis in Gaza, They deliberately committed – all those atrocities – against the Jews in Israel – knowing that the Jews would have to strike – back. And that’s where the, Hamash, you know, – hid in the houses. They booby trapped the – houses. So it made the Israelis, – look like they were, you know, criminals and – overreaching and doing all these war crimes when – in fact the Israelis had no choice. – If you look at what’s going on in – Newark, it’s the same tactic – that was done successfully – in Minneapolis. – You look at the so called protesters – attacking, – abusing, – doing every horrible thing. Personal attacks. They’re going – up to the immigration – officer saying, you know, every type of profanity. – I recognize your face. I’m gonna kill your – family. I’m gonna booby trap your car. All – these threats. And they’re doing all that in – order to get the immigration agents to overreact – and shoot like they did in Minneapolis. – And then the whole public opinion will turn – against – immigration enforcement, against president Trump in favor of – the protesters. – So it’s so important, – to not only be against what the left – is doing, when they say we don’t want – to enforce immigration laws anymore. We want these – criminals to run loose on the street. – So how do you stop it? Well, you – stop it by not – giving the protesters the confrontation – that they’re looking for. What you do is – you just identify the people, – identify their cars, – and arrest them and put them on trial – when you’re going home when they don’t have – the crowd and the, – and and the, the TV cameras around. It’s – such a very simple thing to do, and – that’s exactly – how the Iranians – destroyed the protesters in their country. It’s exactly – how the Irene how the, Putin – destroyed the Russian protesters in Russia. – But for some reason, – you know, you know, Republicans and conservatives just – play right into the hands – of this psychological warfare, – this asymmetrical – warfare, this, – Saul Alinsky tactics. – And it’s not like it’s new. They’ve been – using the same playbook for a hundred years, – but we never bothered to read the book. – And we play we fall right into it – every time. It’s discouraging. – So so so in summation, – the, – the the things to read on the libertyandprosperity.com – website that I didn’t have a chance to – get to are, number one, the press of – Atlantic City – published our seven suggestions – for saving Stockton University – and bringing the tuition back to $6,000 – a year so students could afford to go – to Stockton, – without taking any student loans, putting their families – into debt. It’s totally doable. – We put a, – an outline out there. – I urge everyone to go to libertyandprosperity.com – and read it or read it in the – press of Atlantic City. – It’s out there. – The other thing we, talk about was the – so called free air show in Atlantic City – and the free entertainment, – how we pay for it by adding all – these extra charges to our hotels and restaurants – in Atlantic City that are driving tourists away. – And, I guess the, the the final point – is, – that, Liberty and Prosperity is going to have – a scholarship – breakfast for a scholarship program we run, – and that’ll be, – two weeks from today. – On, – June 13. The tickets are $35 – So instead of our Saturday meeting on June – 13, we’re having a $35 – pancake breakfast. – All the details at libertyandprosperity.com, – and, – and and listen, look forward to talking to – you again next week.
