8.29.26 Seth Grossman WPG Radio. Remember Richard Somers on September 4. Antisemitism is a variant of socialism. 2 Needless Deaths in Mays Landing are more evidence of our broken democracy.

Upcoming Events & Liberty and Prosperity Announcements

  • Richard Somers Memorial (Sept 4): A ceremony honoring local hero Richard Somers (died Sept 4, 1804, in Tripoli) will take place at 10:00 AM at the park by the library in Somers Point, followed by an $20 breakfast at 11:00 AM.

  • Media Appearances: A feature story is published in the free Shore Local newspaper (page 8), and a radio segment discussing Richard Somers will air Wednesday, Sept 2, at 8:00 AM on 95.5 WPG.

  • Mort Klein Lecture (Sunday): The president of the Zionist Organization of America will speak at 7:00 PM at the Rodef Sholom Synagogue in Atlantic City on anti-Semitism and Zionism.

  • Donations: Listeners are urged to support Liberty and Prosperity with $30 dues/donations via their website, by mail, or at the breakfast.

Fatal Car Crash & Crime Policy Critique

  • Mays Landing Tragedy: A stolen vehicle containing four Atlantic City teenagers crashed into oncoming traffic on Route 50 and 3rd Street, killing Egg Harbor Township residents Alice Stillwell and Robert Barr.

  • Juvenile Detention Shortage: The speaker argues that local crime is worsened by a lack of juvenile facility space—noting that the 27-bed Harborfields facility is overcrowded, leading to repeat offenders (including one teen in the crash who was arrested twice in the previous two months) being released.

  • Social and Institutional Criticisms: The host attributes systemic issues to liberal education, broken family structures, overly restrictive police pursuit guidelines, and municipal disputes between Atlantic County and the state over detention obligations.

Federal Spending, Law, and Political Influence

  • Presidential Spending Authority: Addressing the national debt, the speaker highlights that U.S. presidents cannot unilaterally cut Congressionally approved budgets without a veto, as mandated by federal budget law and 1972 Supreme Court precedent.

  • Political Lobbying Dynamics: In response to a caller questioning why pro-Israel PACs opposed fiscal conservatives like Rep. Thomas Massie, the host stated that political lobbies primarily support politicians who advance their specific legislative priorities, regardless of broader party alignment or fiscal policies.

EDITED TRANSCRIPT OF SETH GROSSMAN RADIO INTERVIEW WITH JOHN DEMASI ON AUGUST 29, 2026:

SETH GROSSMAN:  This Friday, September 4, we’ll hold a ceremony, – at the park by the library in Somers – Point, – at Shore Road across the street from Charlie’s – Bar. – To remember the local hero Richard Summers – who died on September fourth eighteen o four. – Fighting America’s first foreign war against terror – in Tripoli North Africa. – So the ceremony will be at 10:00. – We’re having a breakfast afterwards for $20 at – 11:00. – It’s not a fundraiser, it just pays for – the breakfast, but we’d love to have you – come and participate. – And, if you haven’t joined or donated to – Liberty and Prosperity – yet – and you like hearing me talk on the – radio and you like the events we have, – you like the website, – please let us keep doing it by donating – at least $30 – for – supporting dues or whatever you can. – You could donate through the website at the – breakfast or send a check to our Somers – Point office. – Oh and by the way, if you wanna – share that story of Richard Summers, – Shore Local did a great job this year. – It’s a newspaper that’s distributed free all along – on the South Jersey Shore. – The whole story is on page eight. You – can, it has a big picture of a – colorful beach umbrella for this edition, – and I recommend getting it. And of course, – another long standing tradition, Harry Hurley will be – having me tell the whole – story. – O’clock, – rather at, – at 08:00, – in the morning this Wednesday, September 2 – on, ninety five five point five, WPG. – Well, – it’s, – certainly a week that you are gonna be – very busy. That’s for sure. – It seems that way. And another announcement, – on Sunday, – that’s tomorrow if you’re listening to this on – Saturday or in about an hour if you’re – listening to this on – Sunday. Mort Klein, – the president of the Zionist Organization of America – will be speaking in Atlantic City, – at 7PM at the – and that’s on Atlantic Avenue and Plaza Place – across the street from the, – Plaza, – condominium. – And his official topic is fighting antisemitism – and the propaganda lies against Israel and more. – Now, when you go to most of these – seminars on antisemitism, – you normally get the woke leftist garbage – of the, – established – you know Jewish organizations – who seem more interested – in keeping their stupid rainbow, – leftist coalition together and elect Democrats. – They could care more about that than in – protecting Jews. But Mort Klein, – is really a a Republican, a conservative, – staunch supporter of Israel who really tells you – the truth about what’s going on. – And, if anyone has a chance to get – to Atlantic City, – and and wants to – understand – how these so called Jewish organizations – are creating more antisemitism – than they, they say they prevent. – He’s a a dynamic speaker, and I think, – a lot of folks would find that worthwhile. – It it’s definitely, – I’ll I’ll tell you, when I saw the, – saw the ad that you had for it, – It sounds like, it it’s definitely different than – what the norm is. – And, Yeah. What what is the reason? Why – is there so much antisemitism? – I know you could talk for an hour – about this, but why is do you do – you know? – Well well, I mean, it there there’s – a a problem is that really, – socialism – is, – in my opinion, is the main cause of – of antisemitism. – It always has been. Because again, socialism – has two elements to it. One is that, – you know, too many people have too little. – And if there’s a problem in your life, – if you don’t have what you want, – it’s because somebody else is taking too much. – Somebody else is is fixing the system so – you don’t get a fair share. – So of course, once you have that kind – of mentality – and and so many of these liberal, – institutions that you support, support the socialism. – But socialism also ends up leading you to – antisemitism. – Because people say well look at look at – how well the Jews are doing. So – so that’s – the cause of it and yet these Jewish – organizations – who claim to be fighting antisemitism, – they make it worse by falsely blaming Christians, – falsely blaming the so called right wing, – falsely, blaming, – conservatives and Republicans and Trump. You know? So – that so so Jewish leaders actually make it – worse. Worse. And of course the second element – of socialism – is instead of understanding the reality of life – that all people – have some good in them. Most people have – some bad in them. Good people often do – bad things. Bad people do good things. – What they teach, the the leftist, the socialist – teach that every single problem in the world – is caused by somebody else who’s bad. And – all we have to do is identify who’s – bad and get rid of them. – And, it’s very easy to say, oh, look – the Jews are are behind everything. So I – think that’s the main cause of the antisemitism. – And I think that, – that unlike the, the groups we have in – Atlanta County, you know, like the Board of – Jewish Education and the Jewish Federation and the – ADL – who make things worse, – Ward Klein really, – tells it straight. And I think, – a lot of people who are fed up – with, you know, the the the, traditional Jewish – groups will find, – Mordecline in his Zionist organization of America very – refreshing. That’s this Sunday at 07:00, – and it’ll be posted on the website. – Sounds like a a a must attend – lecture. – It is. And we’ll we’ll put the stuff – online. – But meanwhile, I think the most important, – story, – or event that we’ve just got to talk – about, and you can’t talk about it enough, – is what happened just an hour before you – and I were on the radio last Saturday. – And that was when four teenagers – from Atlantic City – stole a car in Longport – and then ran away from police in Longport, – drove to Mays Landing, and killed two people – on Route 50 And 3rd Street, right in – the middle of Mays Landing. – And and they were, of course, Alice Stillwell – and Robert Barr, both of Egg Harbor Township. – And, we posted, – you know, the whole story on our website – under the title, – I I believe that the title was, – something like, – two two here it is. Teens – caught and released twice in Atlantic City – till two in Mays Landing. – And when you look at the video – of just, you must had a huge SUV. – I think it was a $280,000, – car, Mercedes, – SUV. – Well, it must have been going 70 or – 80 miles an hour, – swerves into the oncoming lane – and hits these poor people. You see they – never had a chance. The absolute horror. – And if you don’t already know how evil – and dysfunctional – the politics and government of this country have – become, – the senseless death of these two people should – wake you up, – but I’m not so sure. – Because – what led to the deaths of Alice Stillwell – and Robert Barr – have been going on for fifty years. And – I just don’t have time to discuss the – details, but let’s just talk about the the – main points. Number one, for the past sixty – five years, – black Americans and the rest of us have – been fed this fake black history instead of – real American history. – And the fake black history tells us that – every problem, every failure in the black community – is the fault of white racism. – Therefore, black teachers, black parents, black leaders, or – black anybody – has no responsibility – whatsoever for their actions – responsibility – for raising their children. Number three. We have – schools that spend $25,000 – a year that teach these kids absolutely no – skills, – no discipline, – no sense of controlling yourself, – knows living in a civilized – society. All they’re taught is anger and hate – and blame somebody else for everything wrong in – your life and and to have this, chip – on your shoulder. – Number four. We have a culture that makes – police – more afraid of criminals – than criminals are afraid of police. – Now I don’t know the details of this – case, but it seems that groups of teenagers – in Atlantic City – had been stealing, – very expensive high end cars in Longport – and other rich down beach neighborhoods for months. – And one of the teens, the one that – killed Alice Stilwell and Robert Barr, one of – the four teens in in that car because – we don’t really know who was driving that – car. – He was arrested and released twice for stealing – cars – just in the past two months. Jeez. And – how did this happen? – Were the Longport police afraid to confront a – black teenager walking around the neighborhood in the – middle of the night? – Were they afraid that they’d be sued for – profiling? – Because that’s that’s what it is. Remember walking – by while black, driving by while black? – We we convinced these police officers – that they make one mistake – and their career, their lives are over. They’re – ruined. And so when they they see stuff – that is suspicious that you ought to investigate, – they don’t, – because we don’t support police – who who do who are proactive. – And of course, what happened when they Long – Port Police at I guess it was 03:30 – in the morning, – saw the fourteens, – in the car acting, – suspiciously. I don’t know if they were speeding – or ran through a stop sign or a – red light. – Heck, I know what happens to me if – I run a red light in Longport. – If I run a stop sign in Longport, – heck, if I go more than 35 miles – an hour in Longport, you know, they’re – I I get pulled over. – But for whatever reason, these four teams, they – just took off at 03:30 in the morning. – And, – according to the reports in the paper, the – Long Port Police say, well, they went they – went away. – Doesn’t say any sign of a pursuit and – that’s probably – it is, those, four teens end up in – Mays Landing four hours later, – 07:45. – The Hamilton Township Police, see them, – follow them, but it’s too late. The the – teens had speeded up. They were going 70 – to 80 miles an hour. And, by time – the Hamilton police got there minutes later, – you know, two people were dead. – So, – that that’s what we have. – So, I have a question, though. – Did you say that that that the kid – one of the kids – stole a car two months ago? – Twice. Twice. Twice. So so how is he – out? How is he out? How is this – kid out? Well, that that’s a good question. – Were were they juveniles? Were they out on – bail? Well, I I have a a hunch – that part of the reason – is, – you know, and this has been talked about – for two or three years – that we only have we have probably dozens – if not hundreds – of very dangerous – teens living in Orlando County. – But we only have one juvenile jail called – Harborfield – on Buffalo Avenue in Egg Harbor City. – It was built to hold 20 juvenile inmates. – They made some modifications. I think now it’s – holding 27. – So what happens when you have your your – twenty eighth violent kid, you know, gets arrested? – Well, somebody’s getting released. – You know, the details, – and maybe, Dennis Levinson, I don’t know if – he talked about this, – when he was on. But basically, two years – ago, there was a lawsuit – where the county sued the state and said, – you know, we have all these dangerous juveniles. – You, the state, have the obligation – to have a place for us to send – them. And then the state sued the city – or the sued the county and said, oh, – no. It’s the county’s responsibility. – So for two years, the state and county – were suing each other. Meanwhile, nothing – got built. No no one’s talking about building – anything. No one’s planning any about building anything. – And now two people are dead. So, – and and it’s not even a political issue. – Last, yesterday, – Democratic Senator Cory Booker was in Atlantic City. – And he was talking about, oh, we’re we’re – have a low income city and we’re building – this and we’re building that. We’re building the – other thing. Not one person, not one politician – did anything, – about the need to build a new juvenile – jail so we could get these dangerous, – you know, to call them kids. I mean, – they’re teenage man children – who are savages. – And and we’ve got to get them off – the streets and protect people. – But, it’s a political campaign. If the Republicans – don’t talk about it and the Democrats don’t – talk about it, nothing’s gonna get done, and – and the people just watch this stuff happen. – Boy. – Mhmm. You put it that way. It’s really – disturbing. – Really is. – Well, obviously, not disturbing enough. We’ve got to – have people get invited to these political events, – Republicans and Democrats. – And and black Americans, this this does not – it is not good for the black community – because, – you know, most of this stuff happens in – the black neighborhoods. – Most, you know, middle class whites don’t deal – with it unless they happen to steal a – car. And and and we see that, but – this is going on every day in Atlantic – City, Pleasantville, – Bridgeton, and and God knows where – else. But anyway, that’s all posted on the – Liberty and Prosperity website. – Just two things I wanna touch on. – I know that last week I talked about – the $40,000,000,000,000 – national debt – and how it’s destroying the country as much – as anything else. – And I said that president Trump was responsible – for one fourth of that. – We’re spending a trillion dollars a year, – that we that America doesn’t have just printing – out this money. – It’s wrecking the economy in every possible way. – And I know that two pollers, you know, – called in, – and one of them said, well, Trump tried – to cut the spending, but the courts won’t – let him. He keeps getting sued. – But I think it’s important to remember that, – you know, the president is not the king. – You know, he could only he has to – follow the law that congress makes. – And since, president Nixon in 1972, – the Supreme Court has held – that if congress makes a budget – and if the president approves that budget, and – that budget says that certain money has to – be spent on certain things, – the president can’t just say I don’t wanna – spend the money. He has to follow the – law. So if the president wants to cut – the spending, – he has to veto the budgets – until, – Congress gives a budget that doesn’t have that – reckless spending. But he can’t just on his – own say, I’m not gonna spend the money. – Otherwise, he’s gonna get sued and he’s gonna – lose. So I just wanted to bring that – up. – Well, – well, listen. Trump is he’s pretty familiar with – being sued. – Yeah. Well, I mean but that’s it. And – and and, look, I’ve dealt with Trump when – he was in Atlantic City, and he just – had this attitude. – You know, – that if if you wanna win a lawsuit, – you just have to have the most expensive – lawyer, the fanciest lawyer, the sharpest lawyer, and – you could do what you want. – But, when you reach a certain level, you – just can’t get away with that. You have – to comply with the law, and the and – this is a country of laws. – A little bit. We have a little bit – of that left. The second thing, I wanna – respond to Bob, – of Cape May, – because I I love Bob. He supports liberty – and prosperity. – We we disagree on some issues. So basically, – he said, well, the the biggest – proponent of curbing this reckless spending – was, Tom Massey, – of Kentucky, – Republican Freedom Caucus Congress. He said, how come, – AIPAC in the Jewish lobby – gave money to defeat him? – And the short answer to that is that, – Trump wanted to do his spending, and he – got rid of a whole bunch of congressmen – who, who were opposed to spending, especially that – big beautiful bill. He got rid of Bob – Good in Virginia. – He got rid of, Tom Massey. He got – rid of Ralph Norman, a solid conservative in South Carolina, – just last Tuesday. – So why would the so-called Jewish lobby give money to elect reckless spenders to Congress?  The short answer is that every single issue lobby does this all the time. That  is what you need to influence the government these days. And when you have a big government that controls everything you do, people feel they cannot succeed unless they pay people to inflence the government. That’s the political culture we have today. It doesn’t matter how corrupt they are, how – unconstitutional – they are. If you have a politician who’s going to give you what you want, – you will give that politician money to get him elected. I guarantee you that that Bob of Cape May is a very successful businessman. I’m sure he has a real estate association. He has probably has a hotel motel association. And those business associations probably give money to politicians who may do all these rotten things. But  if those politicians give you the permits or tax breaks or other things you need to succeed in business, you’re – going to give money to get those politicians elected. So if Trump said, – well, I don’t like these congressmen, – and if you want to be my friend, you – help me get rid of these congressmen.
I don’t like what the pro-Israel lobby did by supporting Trump in this way. But every lobby routinely does the same thing. They often help elect bad politicians to get what they want in return. It’s an awful situation and a sign of a corrupt democracy.  But I think it’s unfair to single out and attack supporters of Israel for doing what single issue lobbyists do all the time in this dysfunctional democracy we have today.
