According to Debra White, who was hired by the state Department of Community Affairs as a special adviser to the city on the homeless issue,
“Last year, there were 595 individuals considered homeless. More than 420 were in shelters, and 168 were unsheltered. That gave us a 35% increase in Atlantic County. I predict this year’s count is going to be pretty close to the same or more. If you look at Atlantic City and consider it 48 blocks, that’s about 12 homeless individuals per block. That gives us quite a bit to deal with in a small city.”
Debra White went on to say, “You can’t force people to move. The DCA has provided training to the city’s outreach team to build relationships with the homeless to eventually get them to accept help. Substance abuse, mental illness and crime are the top reasons why people are homeless, so it can be difficult to get them off the street.”
Bill Reynolds, Atlantic City’s Prosecutor agrees that the “solution” is for Atlantic County taxpayers to provide “immediate housing for homeless individuals without preconditions”.

Last month, our organization included this in our 11 Point Program:
- Protect Public From “Homeless”: Restrict the freedom of “homeless”* who deny clean and safe parks, sidewalks and other taxpayer funded public spaces to other. Institutions for those who are mentally ill. Jail for criminals. Shelters only for the temporary poor.
*Until the 1990s, most people now called “homeless” were called “tramps”, “hobos” or “bums”.
Freedom requires responsibility. Taxpayers pay to build and maintain sidewalks, beaches, Boardwalks and parks for their convenience and recreation—not to be used as personal bedrooms, kitchens, or bathrooms. People who use public property for unintended uses without permission are no different from people who use somebody private property without permission.
Large numbers of tramps, hobos and bums in destination resorts make tourists feel unsafe or uncomfortable. Tourists are the lifeblood of Atlantic City.

Last October, Florida’s homeless were banned from sleeping on sidewalks, in parks and other public spaces. The Florida law is one of the country’s strictest anti-homelessness measures. Click Here For Link: Florida’s Strict Homeless Law Goes Into Effect – Newsweek
Last month, Clark County, Nevada made it illegal for the homeless to camp in most public places in and around Las Vegas.

I actually had a women come up to me to ask about where to donate clothes to the “unhoused” in my community. I asked if she meant homeless people. She said she was trying to be politically correct. I told her to stop it. They’re homeless!
