Atlantic City Public Schools: $40,574 Per Student? 329 New Students In One Year?

These numbers in “2023-2024 User Friendly Budget” for the Atlantic City Public Schools are alarming and unsustainable.

Above chart shows “bottom line” of actual and proposed revenues received by the Atlantic City Public Schools from local, state, and federal taxes during the past two years.

The above chart shows “bottom line” of actual and proposed spending by the Atlantic City Public Schools during the past two years.

Are Atlantic City, New Jersey and U.S. taxpayers really spending $288,526,052 to educate 7,111 students this year?  If so, it comes out to nearly $41 thousand per student each year!  What type of education is each student getting for that money?

The above chart shows 329 more students in 2023 than in 2022.  That is a 5% increase in one year, enough to fill a new elementary school!

The chart also shows that Atlantic City public school enrollment increased by 329 students in just one year.  Enrollment went from 6,782 in 2022 to 7,111 in 2023.  That is like adding a new elementary school in just one year.  Are these new “migrants” coming across our open border? Are these the children of some of the 30 million illegal immigrants who came during the past 30 years?  This is simply not sustainable.  The only question is how long will this go on before New Jersey and America are as poor, violent, and miserable as the countries these “migrants” are running away from.
