The perfect theme song for the champions of climate change control was created in 1960 as one song in the Broadway musical of the same name set in a mythical kingdom in England.
By Alan Jay Lerner and Frederick Lowe
It’s true! It’s true
The crown has made it clear
The climate must be perfect all the year
A law was made a distant moon ago here
July and August cannot be too hot
And there’s a legal limit to the snow here
In Camelot
The winter is forbidden till December
And exits March the second on the dot
By order summer lingers through September
In Camelot
Camelot! Camelot!
I know it sounds a bit bizarre
But in Camelot, Camelot
That’s how conditions are
The rain may never fall till after sundown
By 8, the morning fog must disappear
In short, there’s simply not
A more congenial spot
For happily-ever-aftering
Than here in Camelot
Camelot! Camelot!
I know it gives a person pause
But in Camelot, Camelot
Those are the legal laws
The snow may never slush upon the hillside
By 9 p.m. the moonlight must appear
In short, there’s simply not
A more congenial spot
For happily-ever-aftering
Than here in Camelot
It is their perfect theme song because it describes a vision of perfect weather, asserts that weather and climate can be established by law and can be required to remain static. It does not deny that climate can and does change but rather asserts that it should not change and can be forced by law not to change. It is, as stated in the lyrics, “a bit bizarre”.
While the weather and climate conditions mentioned in the lyrics might be vaguely representative of conditions in England which might be considered ideal there, they are hardly typical of conditions in other locations on the globe. They are conditions which would not be conceivable in most other locations on the globe, and certainly not in all those locations at the same time.
Many of the champions of climate change control believe that anthropogenic CO2 emissions are the climate “control knob” and that climate change could be halted and perhaps reversed by merely adjusting that “control knob” until those emissions are eliminated, a condition referred to as “Net Zero”. The proposed adjustments to the “control knob” include ending the use of fossil fuels, eliminating the use of synthetic fertilizers and eliminating animal husbandry for food production. These steps, taken together, would require (and perhaps cause) a significant reduction in global population.
Many of the champions of climate change control believe that proper adjustment of the “control knob” would return the globe, or at least the portion of the globe they inhabit, to what has been referred to as the “Goldilocks” period, during which absolutely everything was “just right”, at least from their perspective. Unfortunately, over much of the globe, many things have never been “just right” for massive portions of the population and many of the champions of climate change control would be content to have it remain that way.
