New AtlantiCare LBGTQ+ Center At Stockton: Treating Disorders? Or Normalizing Them?

Last week, AtlantiCare held a “private event” to “show off” its new “Primary & LGBTQ+ Care Center” on the Stockton University campus in Atlantic City.  The event was held to celebrate its 250th patient since opening just two months ago.  Click Here For Link To Full Post By Downbeach.com:  AtlantiCare Primary and LGBTQ+ Care Center celebrates patient milestone  – DOWNBEACH

But is this new LGBTQ+ Care Center meeting a need for patients with real diseases? Or is it creating a need by persuading healthy patients that they have a disorder that needs treatment? And is it needlessly raising the cost of medical care for everyone?

According to its official website, AtlantiCare now has “seven Employee Research Groups (ERG’s) including P.R.I.D.E. (Promoting Respect Individuality Diversity and Equality)”.  It says these seven ERG’s focus on “issues affecting the LGBTQ+ population, both within AtlantiCare and the communities we serve”.

AtlantiCare offers programs to promote “gender affirming care” for “children, adolescents and adults” when there is a “marked difference between the individual’s expressed/experienced gender and the gender others would assign him or her.  This “condition” is now widely known as “gender identity disorder”.  However, AtlantiCare now uses a new diagnosis called “gender dysphoria”. AtlantiCare claims this new diagnostic term is needed to “protect access to health care” for people affected, and so the diagnostic term “won’t be used against them in social, occupational, or legal areas.”

Once diagnosed with this condition, the child, adolescent or adult undergo a “gender transition” through “hormone therapy, related surgery, or psychotherapy or counseling”.

AtlantiCare also systematically directs all patients to its seven LGBTQ+ Employee Research Groups by requiring all patients, including impressionable children and adolescents, to respond to intrusive personal questions regarding sexuality, sexual preference, and gender identity.  Click Here For Link To AtlantiCare Page Explaining This:  One of the keys to good healthcare is being open with your healthcare provider (atlanticare.org)

Notice that AtlantiCare tells patients: “Doctors have an obligation to maintain patient confidentiality.”  Does this mean withholding doctors may not inform parents about medical information and treatment concerning their minor children?

Notice also that this program appears to be entirely funded by the federal government:
