For the past month, local TV news reported shootings and murders on an almost daily basis throughout Philadelphia. Although 38% less than last year, this unsustainable violence has become normal.
This is part of a national crisis. Similar violence is also happening in and around Atlantic City and in almost every city in America.
Last week, Philadelphia Sheriff Rochelle Bilal posted photos of the city’s ten most wanted murder suspects. All ten were Black. She asked the public for help in arresting them.
In 2005, Thomas Sowell described how for years, white liberals promoted and enabled the growth of a destructive and deadly “Black Redneck” subculture throughout America.

There is a national epidemic of violence, bullying, robbery, theft, attacks and murders with and without guns. However, most of these crimes are only reported by local media. So far, this national crisis has not been reported as such by the national media.
What happened last week is just the latest example. The national media did not report the outbreak of shootings in Philadelphia and Atlantic City as national news. Only one crime story made national headlines. It was the tragic shooting of a black woman by one white police officer in Springfield, Illinois.
The bodycam video confirms that the officer used poor judgment in dealing with the victim. The victim appears to be mentally ill. She brought the officer to her house by claiming there was an intruder. The police did an extensive search inside and outside but found no evidence of an intruder. The victim was slow to answer the door, and was evasive and uncooperative with the officers. At some point, the officers noticed a pot of boiling water on the kitchen stove. They asked the woman to turn off the stove. However, she instead picked up the pot of boiling water, approached the officers and said “I rebuke you in the name of Jesus”. One officer panicked. He pulled out his gun and shot and killed the woman. The officer is now charged with murder.
This officer probably never would have been hired in normal times. However, since George Floyd, many police departments are hiring unqualified officers with poor judgment. That is because many qualified people with good judgment no longer want to be police officers.
What happened in Springfield, Illinois was a rare, local tragedy. Yet it was national headline news for days. Why wasn’t the pandemic of shootings and murders in Philadelphia and other cities even mentioned by the national media?
Is it because crime stories are only national news in the rare cases when the perpetrator is white and the victim is Black?
Is this why so many Americans falsely believe that “white racism” rather than Black Redneck Culture is the biggest threat to their safety?
Does this false narrative explain why the Democratic Party wins elections and keep absolute one-party political control in almost every big city in America?
