Teens caught and released twice in Atlantic City kill 2 in Mays Landing.

Last Saturday, an 18-year-old and three younger teens from Atlantic City drove in the oncoming lane and killed two people in a head‑on collision Saturday morning in Mays Landing. They were driving a stolen Mercedes G‑Wagon at high speed to escape from police. They crossed into the oncoming lane and struck a passenger car head-on near the intersection of Route 50 and Third Street. The impact killed  67‑year‑old Alice Stilwell and her longtime partner, 54‑year‑old Robert Barr Jr., instantly. Both were from Egg Harbor Township

The 18- year-old “adult” of this car theft ring is Nayshaun Brown. He was previously arrested on two occasions for using younger teens to steal cars in shore towns near Atlantic City. He also has an “extensive” juvenile record. He was released each time. Mays Landing, NJ. Saturday, August 22, 2026:

According to police, the stolen vehicle was first spotted and pursued by Longport police at about 3:45 a.m., but it drove away. After confirming the car was stolen, authorities alerted Atlantic County agencies. At about 7:45 a.m., Hamilton Township police spotted the vehicle and attempted a traffic stop, but lost sight of it when the driver failed to stop. Minutes later, officers responded to the crash scene. Surveillance video showed occupants of the stolen vehicle exiting and trying to flee, but they were quickly apprehended

Four people inside the stolen vehicle have been charged. They are 18‑year‑old Nayshaun Brown of Atlantic City and Three juveniles.

Charges include conspiracy to commit second‑degree aggravated assault, third‑degree joyriding, second‑degree eluding, and second‑degree theft by receiving a stolen motor vehicle. Brown also faces a first‑degree charge of employing a juvenile in a crime. Police believe Brown was under the influence of drugs or alcohol at the time He had a prior July 27, 2026 charge for occupying a stolen vehicle in Atlantic City.  He also had other previous charges.

The Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office and Hamilton Township Police are leading the investigation, with the New Jersey Attorney General’s Office of Public Integrity and Accountability also involved under state law requiring an independent review when a death occurs during an encounter with law enforcement

Many dangerous teenagers charged and found guilty of violent crimes are quickly released and sent back into the community. New Jersey State and Atlantic County officials have known about this for years.  Although there are dozens, if not hundreds of dangerous teenage criminals in Atlantic County, there is only one youth prison that can only hold 27 inmates. It is the “Atlantic Youth Detention Facililty Harborfields” on Buffalo Avenue in Egg Harbor City.

In December of 2024, Atlantic County and New Jersey government sued each other over the failure to have enough prison space for dangerous teenage criminals. In January of 2025, a judge ruled that the state had the responsibility for housing dangerous teenage criminals. Since then, the state did nothing. Atlantic County also did nothing. Now two more good people in Atlantic County are dead.

It is an established fact that putting dangerous criminals in prison for long periods of time dramatically cuts crime and keeps people safe. El Salvador, once the “murder capital of the world” is now one of the safest and most prosperous places in the world.

In 2019, 38-year-old Nayib Bukele became President of El Salvador. In March of 2022, criminal gangs murdered 87 people in one weekend. Bukele and the Legislature then began a massive, nationwide crime reduction program. A Copilot AI search describes the program as follows:

4. Dramatic drop in homicides

• Homicides fell from 1,147 in 2021 to 496 in 2022 (‑56.8%).
• By 2025, El Salvador recorded 82 homicides, the lowest in its history.
• 303 days with zero homicides in 2025.
• Surveys show 95–96% public approval of the crackdown.
